From a father’s point of view surely you would want your child to be safe and happy. If it was me I would want to know they’re legit. If it was in an adult context then what they do is their business as adults.

Wouldn’t it depend on the context ? If Dad’s mate knew said daughter as a child and was like an Uncle to her then that’s a different kettle of fish entirely so would be inappropriate because of the connection. If however he’s only known her as an adult then that’s different.
