Vickis head was swimming already and the sugar rush she was getting from her cake sent it into overdrive.

It dawned on her after a few seconds that it was a bad dream, the significance she assumed was her conversation with Brian on the phone.

Her phones clock showed it was 2.34, somehow after she had put it back down on the bedside table she managed to shut her eyes and drift back off to sleep with no more bad dreams.

She woke up, it seemed bright in the room, sunshine beamed through the windows, she contemplated the day ahead with a mixture of feelings, sad and happy. She picked her phone up it was 7.15 she was hoping to be on the road by now. She got up, she could hear Linda milling around downstairs and the smell of toast wafting up the stairs. She gathered her clothes she would be wearing and went to the bathroom and turned on the shower.

She looked at herself in the mirror, she looked tired although didnt really feel it.

She stepped into the bath pulling the shower curtain across and faced the torrent of warm water, it felt lovely and comforting she closed her eyes as the water tapped her face like a tropical storm.

She felt something brush her bum and jumped it was ok just the shower curtain doing its best to cling to her wet skin.

She finished showering, dried herself got dressed and wrapped a towel around her wet hair. She was running late but the anxious feeling had passed she would soon be on the road no need to rush.

She cleaned her teeth and remembered to put the brush in her toiletries bag, she went back to her room and dried her hair.

She was looking forward to seeing Emily, Patrick ( if hes still there) and Daniel at least she knew Dave wouldnt be there despite her dream, no it could be a nice day.

Vicki finished her tea and put the mug in the bowl for washing up, picked her bags up and headed out to the car. She put her overnight bag in the boot and got in her car. She was soon joining the motorway, it was busier than she had expected, where the hell is everyone going, just as Highway to Hell began to remind her on the radio as if the breakfast time presenter had pre empt her journey and was playing her own personal sound track

Brian had left a message, she would listen to it at the services which according to the blue sign were another twenty five miles away, her stomach protested it seemed to be making noises in tune with ACDC.

Her head was filled with thoughts, she had gone into daydream mode again and didnt realise she was dawdling along in the slow lane at fifty miles an hour behind a _ipper truck.

She snapped out of it, indicated and put her foot down, she looked up at the driver as she passing, drinking a coffee, unusual for one of them to be going slow.

The miles seem to rack up and the welcome sign for the services in half a mile flashed passed her windscreen.

She pulled onto the slip road and into the large carpark that seemed fairly empty for the amount of cars on the motorway.

She parked up, took her phone and bag, locking the car she went in, the food hall was an assortment of delights from fast food to more healthy options, the words of Pauline rang in her ears again, she had to think of her new job, the first time shes ever had to think about diet and especially for a job, she decided to go for a coffee and porridge, despite her stomach begging her feet to wander into the fast food outlets.

She grabbed her coffee and pot of porridge and found a table, she had a deja vu moment when all this began, when she sat at a table just like this but surrounded by families taking that most important phone call from Sam, arranging an interview that started this whole crazy saga, she smiled, it had come full circle nearly twelve months earlier.

She looked around at the customers at their tables it seemed a conglomerate of folk, business men, mothers with moody kids because like her stomach, wanted burgers and fries, she played a game trying to guess their professions. She looked at the smart dressed gentleman on the next table looking at his laptop

Business analyst she reckoned, the young woman dressed in lycra on her phone was a fitness instructor. She giggled thinking if they all had a bet on her profession or soon to be profession theyd never guess in a million years, shed be rich.

She picked up her phone and listened to Brians message

She hadnt realised how long shed been sitting there, time to get moving.
