She ran to her and hugged her, nearly knocking them both over, Linda dropped her bags and embraced Vicki, Vicki held her tight swaying them both from side to side.

God its been ages!!

Im ok, look help me with these bags and ill pit the kettle on.

Vicki noticed that Linda looked around nervously up and down the street then picked up one of the bags, Vicki picked up the other and Linda made her way sharpish through the gate and up the path to the frint door. She turned the key in the lock then glanced around once more and ushered Vicki in.

Vicki thought it a little strange

You ok Linda?

It was like Linda was hiding from something or someone.

She followed Linda through the hall and down the back of the house to a small kitchen.

The house although clean, was looking very tired, she noticed there were bare cables along walls, holes in the walls where things had been removed, the kitchen looked like it had been there fourty odd years.

Do you want a cuppa? Said Linda opening the old cupboard doors and emptying the contents of the bags into them.

She cleared some things off the little table and pulled out a chair.

Linda took her coat off revealing a uniform, it looked like a supermarket uniform and hung her coat over the back of the other chair.

Although Vicki hadnt seen her for a couple of months, Linda seemed to have aged, she looked haggard and tired....tbc

Linda broke down in tears and grabbed a tissue from the box on the table.

Vicki got up and gave ger a hug.

Tell me whats hapoened, here ill put the kettle on.

Well, Linda sobbed into her tissue,

Oh the tea bags are in that cupboard.

Vicki reached up taking the tea canister and popping two tea bags into cups, she looked around for a tea pot she couldnt see one. She filled the kettle and switched it on.

Well when Keith and the others got arrested, you know that night at The Coach?

Yes i remember, Vicki could remember, she suddenly felt guilty that was the night she was enjoying Brian and Llelani in her appartment, she was getting fucked out of her brain.

Well id had enough, i was dragged into it, I hadnt done anything.

Keith begged me to help him with bail but honestly Vicki that was the last straw, hed spent most of the savings we had, Id had enough, we even had the HMRC going through our accounts, that night had opened a right can of worms it was horrible.

So what happened then? Vicki poured the water into the cups and took the milk from the fridge.

I said i didnt want anything to do with it or him anymore, honestly Vicki i was at my wits end. I rang my sister to see if i could stay there.

You left him then?

Oh yes i couldnt stand it anymore, all the booze, girls and gambling.

So my sister put me up for a while till I found the courage to come down here, i rent this place the landlady has been been realky nice and ive got a job a the supermarket.

Oh Linda are you happier now?

Well yes ive got my independence back, havent got a lot of money but at least its staying in my account now.

What about the guest house? I went there to find you but the sale sign is up.

Yes weve had to put it on the market, wont get much out of that Keiths seen to that.

So what happened to Sam, Pete and the others?

Dunno as far as i know they moved somewhere away and told to stay away from The Coach, so...Linda shrugged her shoulders ...dunno...tbc

Hes like, maintenance that kind of thing hes working at the supermarket fixing the fridges or something, hes down here for a few weeks asking if there was aany good B and Bs to stay, I told him i used to run one and i have a spare room

Yes hes been here about two weeks now.

Thomas or Tom as he likes to be called, nice lad quite quiet, hell probably be in soon hes normally back at this time.
