That day had began like any other barring the terrible visibility,I got up and went to work as I had things to sort out before I permanently left,Everything was tranquil as I leisurely went through my list of things that needed to be sorted.

That lasted until Meg knocked at my desk,She was a little older than me with short cut black hair,sparkling blue eyes and at that moment wearing a very simple outfit.I suppressed a sigh,she had a bad habit of leaving things until the end,This time was little different,After I was done I looked at the time sighing silently as it meant I would have to find time to do most of it,but what happened next was a shock to me one simple question so loaded although “Are you coming to the party tomorrow?”.”I wasn’t invited” I replied truthfully.She rubbed her brow briefly “Well Jen said you were”.

I made my excuses and went to Jens office.She was quite a bit older than me but her blonde hair and brown eyes not to mention the way she wore tight blouses really awakened something in me.”Alex said I was coming to the party thought I wasn’t invited” I got out.”You weren’t”.

All the subsequent events hit me hard what I had planned to be a date had been misinterpreted,I was feeling pretty sorry for myself but not having anything else to do that night I agreed to go,Some small part of me thinking I could still salvage my plans as I looked back at Jen as I left some part of me hoped to make new plans.

Other thoughts passed into my head as I left when I got back I had got a bit more realistic wanting tp be done with the business I set about sorting most outstanding things then went down a rabbit hole of getting things sorted out for Meg.

The next days work passed without much event and I got ready for the afterparty confident I would never see these people again.Some part of my brain perhaps foretelling whispered “Never be so certain”

I got home and got ready as I checked my texts before I would turn it off forever I was surprised to see several thank you texts from Meg with the work I did last night.

Moving past that however all affairs in order just thinking I have to survive tonight, It can't be that bad.

The venue was the office showing the usual originality and there I met with my first challenge which sapped most of my happiness.I went to plan B say hi to Jen,talk to Alex and leave ASAP,well things couldn't get anymore awkward.

They did as I saw Cherise subject of the failed date stride towards me smiling and pulled me aside for a few minutes chat, nothing too important to mention but it did end in me going to get us a drink leaving her there while I went off.

I picked up two cups and felt a light brush on my arm."Something for me?" the voice of Meg whispered in my ear. Not wanting to make another mortal enemy I handed the cup over to her. I felt another tug on my arm as gently guided me to a corner. "You get my text?" she asked, "Yes". "Don't know what I'll do without you" she said sadly. "I'm sure you'll be fine" I replied. She took quite a drink out of the cup "what about you?" she stumbled out."I'll be fine" I said as I saw she looked a little upset by the answer."But I'll miss you of course" I said smiling myself as I saw a smile return.

"I just need to run an errand see you in a bit" I said as I went back to Cherise and concluded our conversation there.Before leaving although she did ask a question that I couldn't answer so I wandered off to solve that problem,concious that I was keeping Meg waiting but I didn't want problems following me.

This was the only reason why I went off to find Aubry at the party deep in a very one-sided conversation.I went over and interrupted to a look of annoyance from the guy.She looked up at me devoid of her usual to something resembling anger as I became convinced I had made a rude intrusion but well didn't want to waste a week.

I managed to pull her aside to the guy saying "only business, or another claim" whatever that was supposed to be. I explained everything that Cherise would need done. Picking up on a note of anger I asked her what was wrong which was responded with a annoyed response then a slight apology. "The last few weeks have been stressful for well.." my reply trailed off but seemed to alleviate her.

Something in me told me that I would regret letting her go back."Hey Cherise is just round there, could we get this sorted for me?" I said pleading."But.." she started,"I really don't want to play messenger, could I have this favour" stupidity overtook in me in that moment "could I claim that from you?" the wait lasted forever as I cursed myself but agreement did follow and we went over the discussion lasted a while and ended with me and Aubry jokingly dancing together at Cherise's urging out of earshot she admitted to having no idea about somethings and out of gratitude since she and saved me a lot of time I said I would meet up with her one day and explain that seemed to cause her to relax even further.

I saw Meg out the corner of my eye as I saw Aubry's face darken slightly and then saw it go into some form of smile as I felt her hand grip my waist and start sliding up and down gently touching.She then whispered asking if I could do tomorrow which I readily agreed to giving me a squeeze as she went over to Cherise.

I wandered over to Meg as she smiled and looking at Meg said "Thanks for doing that". I looked at Meg in a new light there and then and smiled back "Well making you happy is its own reward"

I looked at the time I reckoned I could make my excuses soon after I had seen Jen.As the thought of Jen came to my mind "Ask her out,whats the worst?" came flooding in."Ask Meg out you actually have a chance" came another involuntary thought.

"What about both?" said another one that I quickly suppressed as I said goodbye briefly to Meg
