Our company had lost a major contract and staff cuts were needed. It came down to two and basically I couldn't decide. They were both good workers, diligent with an attention to detail. But needs must'd.

I dithered and dithered and eventually decided on a whim that whoever went to the water cooler first next morning was the one to go. Not very scientific or for that matter fair.

Next morning Dave came in with a stinking hangover - so much for diligence! - and went to the watercooler to throw back some paracetamol.

I called him in.

"Dave", I said, "I'm going to get straight to the point. I'm in the unenviable position that I need to lay you or Jack off".

Dave looks at me and sighed

"I don't feel too good today boss so if it's all the same to you I'd rather you just jack'd off"

(The old ones are the best they should write more of them Admit it, you laughed........)
