I recently played a game on Steam called Lust from Beyond and I am… not sure I like it. It leans far too much into pain and violence for my tastes. Granted it’s heavily influenced by H.R. Giger’s “biomechanical” designs and H.P. Lovecraft, but I don’t see how an erotic game that flirts (no pun intended) with weird or bizarre sexual elements should always have to go down this route.
I get it, I'm probably not the intended audience for this particular game, but I find myself craving something that doesn't mix so much of the brutality that the game seems to want to use to freak me out. I think there's other ways to use horror and weird fiction that don't fall into the typical "sex negative" tropes we see over and over again from Hollywood films and other properties.
We get it, risky sex is not generally a good thing, you can get diseases and worse. Lesson learned, we got it.
There's a horror anime called Urotsukidoji that a lot of people are probably familiar with that does this as well. It's not a particularly good story, but it's worth checking out if you're into erotic forms of horror, I think. There are some truly sensuous scenes in it, but all the violence, gore, noncon and other negative aspects really sour it for me. But there are a few imaginative and highly erotic things in amongst the carnage. I'm not just talking about the tentacle aspect of tentacle porn.
There's a scene where a young woman, Megumi, is being fucked by this otherworldly creature. Humanoid, but possessing of some aspects of physiology that are unusual to say the least, such as having two, long prehensile phalluses one of which massages and strokes her breasts, and has a mouth at the end of it to suck her nipples. Stay with me!
There's a ffm threesome scene that is truly erotic and arousing, involving two ethereal "fairy" type women that essentially start to 69 in midair, while a masculine figure kisses and fucks them, they turn corporeal and tangible as the scene progresses. He grows two large tentacular cocks and starts fucking them both simultaneously and despite a few times straying into the noncon territory, it's pretty good. Until they literally explode with cum at the end. Now, granted, the two fems start off as ethereal creatures, so one could assume they went back to that form. Within the context of the story, however, I think they were essentially consumed so he could change form, and it's that kind of thing that I have issue with.
There are other scenes and elements within the series that are even more weird still.
Back to Lust from Beyond, though, I find myself intrigued by the weird elements and I don't think I'm the kind of person that is particularly turned on by "freaky" sex, bodies or situations. But some of the more erotic and less horrific creations of people like H.R. Giger can be quite appealing.
I guess maybe I'm being silly, but I don't think "weird" erotica has to be risky, dangerous, deadly or painful. It can be just what it is, weird. |
