Hope you’re enjoying. Would be more than happy for any feedback either here or in a private message.
Any way part 3 of my rambling tale...
So Monday had become “gym day” for the mums. “Do you all talk or meet up and organise Monday morning to work out or something?”
“I don’t know.” Charlotte, one of the mums who’d become a friend, and a pre existing friend of Kayleigh’s answered. Now where as Kay was a “yummy mummy” Charlotte was what my grandmother would have called “as common as dirt”. She wasn’t unkept at all, but had more chav tendencies. Generally pleasant but not somebody I’d want to upset!
“It helps get rid of all the pent up stress of a weekend with the kids.” Kay helpfully piped up.
“Well I guess that makes sense. Still not gonna get me in the gym or any time soon.” I retorted.
“Don’t fancy the Lycra shorts Pete?” Charlotte quipped playfully.
“Hell no. I’ve got the dad bod to maintain for a start. Besides nobody wants to see this in tight clothes!” I gestured towards my body.
“Oh I don’t know,” kayleigh answered, drinking me in with her eyes “I’m sure somebody does. Me and Char need to find you a date!” She added the last with a slight pause, but too much not to notice. “Anyway I’ve got to go, see you guys later.” And with that she strode off, daughters safely through the school doors, I turned to start heading off too Charlotte and I chatting away as old friends.
That’s when I noticed them. The bright pink thong showing through the dark fabric of Kayleigh’s gym gear. Absolutely framing her, to my eyes, near perfect ass.
Having not much better to do Charlotte and I went for breakfast at a local cafe. We shot the breeze just talking till she mentioned some hassle Kay was having with her ex.
She didn’t go into much detail about it before changing subject.
I didn’t see Kay that evening, the girls being picked up by her mother.
The next morning I saw her car, the girls jumped out and went straight into the school office before she drove off.
Tuesday afternoon Charlotte picked up kayleigh girls as well as her own 3.
“Is everything okay?” I probed as the kids played on the yard together before we were headed home.
“Yeah, I suppose.” Charlotte said
“Suppose?”
“Yeah, just Jeff being a dick.”
“Oh right.” Jeff was her long time partner. I knew him well enough. Nice enough guy. Bit thick to be honest but mostly harmless. “How come your picking up the girls for Kay?”
“Oh she’s not doing to good.”
“Fair enough. I’ll drop her a message later see if she’s alright.”
“Yeah that’d be good.” Charlotte replied seeming distracted. “Come on you lot, I need to get home, and your mum’s be wondering where you are.”
So, later that evening, after we’d eaten, showered (including the post shower hair drying of a young girl with long hair that seemed to last for ever!), I packed little one off to bed and set about finding details for Kayleigh.
It was then I realised I didn’t even have her added on Facebook let alone her phone number.
I checked back through my contacts. Yes! Charlotte had added me and I found Kayleigh rapidly via her.
Along with a notice that a friend request was pending. From her. That I’d not answered. It was “over a year ago”, so I thought not much of it.
“Heya Kay. It’s Pete (from school). Not seen you about for a few days. Everything okay?
Hope you’re well
Pete”
My fingers paused. Do I add x’s? Are we close enough for that? Am I prying with this message? Will she think so?
I hesitated like this for a few minutes, even contemplating deleting the message and walking away.
That’s when the cat, a legacy left behind by my partner, made the decision for me, jumping up and causing the send button to be pressed.
K:“Hiya Pete! Omg it’s taken you long enough to accept!!”
P:“Sorry about that. I don’t use social media much. Guess I missed it!”
K:“Clearly. Almost thought you were ignoring me! You all okay?”
P:“Nah, I’d never do that. Yeah we’re fine thanks. You lot okay?”
K:”Oh really and why’s that? Girls are okay yeah.”
P:”Cos you’re my friend and I like you. What about you, are you okay?”
K:”Oh good. I like you too. And that’s a matter of opinion. xx”
And there they were. X’s. Mistake? Force of habit? The intentional? Either way I’d try my luck.
P:”matter of opinion??? Xx”
K:”Yeah.”
K:”xx”
Now I knew that was no mistake.
I’d began to type out a reply when she replied again.
K:”look I don’t wanna talk about it on here. You free tomorrow?”
P:”well got to drop off at school but after that, yeah.”
K:”cool. Well mums dropping kids off tomorrow, so pop round after and we can chat xx.”
P:”okay, cool, see you in the morning. Xx”
K:”see you in the morning. Xx”
And that was that. So I thought, till over night I got this message “btw, please don’t judge my nighty in the morning lol.” |
