I think that's an entirely personal decision that should have absolutely no bearing on the interviewer regardless of their gender. It's not anyone else's business whether a woman wears a bra or not.

I'm guessing the male store manager is professional and wouldn't be aware of what the interviewee had on under her clothes. Unless her clothes were see through, in which case I'd say it was inappropriate whether she wore a bra or not.

I do think anyone going to an interview should dress for the role though. I wouldn't expect or appreciate overtly sexy clothing at an interview from either party. Smary, well groomed and appropriate is key. Especially in the current climate. Also trying to get a job based on your sexual attraction implies that you feel you might be a bit short on skills

Given me and my breasts, bra. I'd be interviewing for the job as a person, and would want to minimise any parts of my anatomy that would distract from that.

Same would apply for a female or gender fluid manager.

It isn't right at all. And it's a separate but related problem to the OP, that our breasts should be irrelevant in the vast majority of jobs and people should keep their eyes to themselves when it's not appropriate (or at least not make that the problem of the person they're looking at).

A young woman I used to work with was asked to cover up. I'm undecided on this. I'm completely straight but found her very low cut clothing it very distracting and I had difficulty in taking her seriously. Is that my problem? I suppose it is.

We had a letter home from school once asking that the female students wore longer skirts and "appropriate" tops because it was distracting the male students and staff. Nothing pointing out to the male students that they should wear trousers that didn't show their pants or to try and just concentrate on their studies and teaching.

Yeah, I think as a society we need to move past this - including by asking men and boys to learn not to be distracted by women and particularly girls. Honestly, people should control themselves rather than blaming someone who happens to have a lot of mammary tissue.

Doesn't it all depend on what other garments she is wearing in reality. If a woman has a blouse on that's opaque its not a great idea but if she has a blouse and closed jacket then not a problem.

I was on an interview panel few years ago 4 ladies to be interviewed, the panel was lady from HR 30 ish above the knee skirt blouse, older lady t suite and me. Now the one on paper that hands down was the most suitable cam in wearing short skirt semi see through blouse white bra and a jacket. Towards the end of the interview she said she was feeling hot could see take her jacket of HR lady said no end of interview.
