Holidays to Spain, Canary Islands, Balearics Islands

Following local measures put in place by the Spanish Authorities, including closing some hotel facilities and the local bars, restaurants and beaches we have made the difficult decision to cancel holidays due to travel between 14th and 29th March.

Customers due to travel to the Spain, Canary Islands and Balearics Islands between 15th and 17th March will have their holiday automatically cancelled and refunded. There is no need to call us.

Customers due to travel to Spain, Canary Islands and Balearics Islands between 18th and 28th March we will call you to rearrange your holiday or offer a full-refund.

Customers due to travel after 29th March, please bear with us as we prioritise customers due to travel in the next two weeks. We would like to thank our customers for their understanding

.

I know what you mean. I spoke with Tui (call centre) yersterday and they said that retuning flights were going as normal. However no one really knows if the Spanish government will implement extra steps regarding us tourists until Monday morning. Tui did state that they will get us back. If you look at the Italian situation, repatriation flights were provided.

Thanks, good to know but that can change on Monday at 8am. Especially if there isn't enough air traffic controllers to man Spanish Air space then flights will be limited.

It seems to be an ever evolving situation by the hour.

True. Looking at some companies repatriating UK citizens starting Tuesday it is anyone’s guess when we could be heading home.

Just received an email from TUI which reads as follows:

"We’re sorry your booking has been cancelled. You may be able to make a claim against your travel insurance. Please refer to your travel insurance policy documentation to find your next steps."

The cancellation text we received on Saturday evening promised a full refund with NO mention of travel insurance. They're trying to move the goalposts!

Looks like a battle for us all trying to get our money back.

Yes, all hotels are closing on all the Canary Islands, hope we all recuperate from this....

All businesses are closed, including ours and lots of these don't have the financial back up to keep paying all the costs till tourists start coming again

Lots of Residents family are very unsure about there income and feature

Take care of yourself and your family, stay safe & healthy xx John & Nora

Apparently the email was a standard auto generated message. The original cancellation text promising a refund from TUI is correct

Expect delays guys. We flew from Spain on Sunday night and had 2 hours delay prior to boarding, followed by 1 hour 40 just sat on the plane. Spanish air traffic are on skeleton manning hence the problem once your flight misses it's slot. We wish you all a safe and speedy return to a damp, miserable and almost locked down UK

We agree. Our back home with jet2 was meant to be tomorrow but has now been moved to Saturday.

More effort needs to be made by airlines to fly people back to uk!!

I’m guessing that’s because they’re flying out empty and they want to fill the planes. Some flights will be cancelled to fill others. People are rearranging flights to get home sooner rather than later so maybe most of your fellow outbound passengers have already left. Once they stop flying though, apparently this week, that will be it. All the hotels are to shut when the last tourists have departed. Safe journey one and all

Have just amended our June holiday (Corfu) to next year. Done it by telephone and they waived the £100 amendment fee. Very helpful.
