This is fake news.

Chatted to the Jet2 rep this morning hotel. All jet2 flights operating as normal.

Double checked on airline website and airport website and confirms this.

Oh that would be nice! But think they are just trying to deal with immediate flights first maybe! The spanish national emergency has been declared for 15 days I think so doubt our flight in 11 days will still be going!

That's a bit worrying the rep wasn't informed. It's on sky news, they are usually accurate and do their research so don't get sued.

The fact other countries are locking down for at least 2 weeks and meeting places etc for the same. I think Jet2 are being conservative. I expect the 2wk timescale to be confirmed sooner than later

If the islands government don't implement it beforehand it will happen on Monday.

The whole country (including the islands) goes into lock down from 8 o'clock. Just not sure if that is am or pm.

So if they shut down for 14 days from Monday that takes us to 30th (the day we are due to fly out to the canaries) i am guessing if easyjet dont suspend flights then its possible (but not probable) that we may still get away?? We have a package booked with onthebeach and have heard nothing as yet

The 14 days is just the beginning.

Airlines and holiday companies are not in the business to give refunds unless they have to. They will wait until they have no choice, and considering things are getting worse by the day it is likely that other airlines will be cancelled in due course

I've spoken to a friend who lives out there and he said lockdown starts on Monday. You can only leave your house to go to work, shops and pharmacy.

He works on a bar and so far it's not been closed. As you can imagine he's worried about his job and income.

I think we need to think about everyone in the tourist industry everywhere in the world. We live in Cornwall and local hoteliers, restaurants, cafes etc are starting to see numbers fall.

Lets hope it soon passes, we are still planning a visit later in the year.

From 08h00 on Monday morning, all journeys are cancelled.

You can only go out if it's for work, food shopping or buying prescription drugs.

All bars and restaurants are closed.

Here's the decree in full...

****

The draft version of the decree implementing the state of alarm, which radio network Cadena SER first reported on and to which EL PAÍS has had access, limits journeys to the following:

1. The acquisition of foods, pharmaceuticals and essential items.

2. Access to healthcare centres.

3. Journeys to workplaces or to carry out labour, professional or company duties

4. Return journeys to habitual residences.

5. Assistance for and care of seniors, minors, dependants, the disabled or especially vulnerable people.

6. Journeys to financial institutions.

7. For reasons of force majeure or situations of necessity.

8. Any other activity that is justifiably necessary.

To sum up, people in Spain will only be able to move around if they need to go to work, buy foodstuffs or purchase pharmaceuticals. The government is essentially locking down Spain, in measures that will go into force at 8am on Monday March 16, 2020.

To impede people from travelling, the decree states, “the head of the Interior Ministry will be able to impose the closure of freeways or sections of the same for reasons of public health, safety or movement of traffic, or the restriction of determined vehicles to them for the same reasons..

Reading Sexy Beckys post and understanding it, it appears you won’t be allowed to visit a bar or restaurant as those types of movement by persons are not authorised.
