We're looking at visiting Venus Star in September but the prices for flights are horrendous.

Who do you find the best to fly with & where from? We're in the North East but don't mind a bit of a drive if it saves a few hundred quid.

Any other advice greatly recieved as it would be our first swingers holiday, thanks x

We regularly fly Edinburgh to Fuerteventura and with careful picking of times can get returns for £60 each. Maybe fly here and get a Binter/CanaryFly flight on to GC, or take the Armas ferry?

We were pricing it up last night & for mid September it was coming out at over 700 for basic economy without any extras flying from Manchester, Newcastle was a tad cheaper at about 650 ish. Comes to something when the flights are more than the holiday!

W just go on Skyscanner and find the cheapest flights then sort the accommodation.

We normally have another trip booked before going in the next one lol

That reminds me, need to book October before we go next month

Flights are really expensive at moment, 2 reasons, thomas cook gone and also ryanair are not flying to gc from march at most airports , although that could change , they do from birmingham and flights on october are decent .

Jet2 and tiu basically know there are not so many flights going out in winter so are hicking up prices, they will come down , especially if Ryanair come in again ,

Hope that makes sense

Have you looked at getting the whole holiday from tui or jet2? We have just priced an all inclusive to PDI and its coming in at £1200. Which considering how much flights alone are, its not too bad a deal.

We've been using Norwegian and Vueling a lot recently for flights to and from Spain.

Don't know which airports they use near you, but worth a look.

Great service online and good prices

We had the same problem.we go to GC 2/3times a year. Never paid theses prices. We always fly from Manchester, but no flights due to base closed in GC after march. East Midlands only fly on Sundays with Ryan air. Not to bad prices, Or other options is jet 2 Leeds Bradford. But seems not as cheep as we are all used to.

We have just returned from Venus Star.

A great place to stay.

We had to drive down to Stansted to get sensibly priced flights as the prices from Newcastle were horrendous. It was worth the drive down though....saved over £1000....

I remember doing that years ago, when I was taking kids on holiday and looking for the most affordable route.

We went Iberia Gatwick to Madrid and Iberia Madrid to Las Palmas.

I cannot remember now the prices, but for four of us it worked out quite a bit cheaper.

Use On The Beach flight only search as it gives you lots of options. Then when you find the flights you want. Use Skyscanner or go to the company direct for a better price !

Norwegian & Jet2 get our vote now. By the time you add on the bells and whistles Ryanair and easyJet are waaaay too expensive.

Kayak by far the best screen scraper - good deals to be had if you can be flexible - such as travelling Wednesday to Wednesday rather than weekend to weekend.

If you look for flights after March this year from Man or Liverpool you wont find any for Ryanair

Ryanair closing their Las Palmas base is causing confusion, it doesn't mean they aren't flying to GC, so far as I know? It means Aircraft/Staff won't be based there ie if a plane flies in, it will be flying out again. I presume this means some rearrangement of flight timetables but certainly from Dublin, you can book flights through to October, as usual. Possible that flights from the likes of Manchester will be released with shorter notice, as schedules are sorted, to allow the aircraft that would overnight there, to return to one of their other bases. Keep an eye on things(Apols if they have actually announced no flights from those airports, it's just my understanding of what closing their base in Las Palmas means)

The flights in and out of Liverpool and Manchester originated from Gran Canaria.

That was the planes base.

It just means less choice and a potential of higher prices.

It will affect some.. it was just a post of information.

From Manchester after March your choice will be TUI or Jet2 for direct flights.

Both of these airlines tend to be on the expensive side as we've just found out when looking for flights in April...but we managed to get 2 return flights from Birmingham for £278 total ( does mean a 2 hour drive though)

They might or might not ( if no easyJet or Ryanair flights available probably go up )that's the chance you take, but we would sooner book now and have a 2 hour drive ( normally 1 hour for Manchester) so no biggy

We got a jet 2 all inclusive end of April for a week at abora Caterina for under £1000 given the flights were nearly £500 to book independently we thought that was a good deal. We will still eat out though in the local economy. Mr

I booked my flight for this Friday at the end of December, so very late, total cost is £140.25 and £62 of that was for the luggage!

Admittedly that is with a discount but at £165 it still wouldn't have been too bad

"Have heard as its spain, fly main land spain and get an internal fight to GC, if that works lol"

We have done this and it’s definitely worth consideration. We flew to Malaga with Ryanair then Malaga to GC with Vueling which is a budget Spanish carrier. The trick is to look at flights on Sky scanner then book the cheapest combination then sort accommodation out afterwards around those dates. You could book a couple of nights in Malaga as a City break too. It obviously helps if you are retired therefore flexible with dates.
