Cita bars short change...why?

Jump to newest

Torbay

After several years enjoying the bars and clubs at Cita, came away this year disapointed and annoyed at constantly being stung,,that is the word a majority use, when paying. First off Come back bar, the ticket system now introduced, what a nightmare. As soon as you get near bar, they hassle you to take a ticket, as they won't serve you at bar, order drinks , your lucky to get the right ones eventually. Constant hassle to buy more. When you come to pay, that's a total farce,it took 25 mins at the bar, that was after asking the waiter to take payment, being asked what we had, although the ticket number systems ment to work. Eventually some figure was plucked out of the air, which was twice the actual cost. When I queried it they went interested, then after words he halved it, which was nearer to the correct price. Meanwhile the couple next to me were given 15 euros, pretty bumused, yes as they hadn't paid for any drinks. After trying to hand it back some staff member told them he was busy. Eventually the stuck the money in their pocket shrugged and left. Absolute crackers.

Fun for all. Can't remember going there without having to query the bill,,others drinks added to ours, incorrect change etc. So we don't go there anymore.

Secrets, don't know what planet they are on some times, you never get to see a bill, which I understand is a legal requirement, just some figure shouted across the bar. Usually way out, if you pull them up on it, at a stroke they come up with closer figure,,how strange....

Now before you all start ripping me to bits , saying what wounderfull friends they are, and don't want to upset them, they never overcharged us,, and so on,, check what your paying. I don't think I know anyone who's happy or can admit to not being ripped off.

I love the bars and clubs here, yes I can piss off somewhere else, if I don't like it don't go.. Yes all true, but at the end of the day if nobody stands up and Sayers nothing, nothing will change and you will continue,,with a smile, being taken for a mug, until you querrie your bill.

Felt the young lad in Patricia's tried to rip us off the other night, yes, when I queried the bill it was eventually reduced to the correct amount.

Have since heard he was fired the next day,so obviously we weren't the first he tried it on with

Yes the ticket system at come back obviously doesn’t work, I questioned our bill one of the nights, it had about 6 extra drinks on it, I knew exactly what we’d had, the owner was very apologetic but I had to work the bill out for him with my iPhone calculator, it was 25euros less than original bill.

This has bèen going on for years, unless people are made aware it will continue. 25 euros, just one couple, adds up doesn't it.

If it's the bar staff the owners should deal with them, if it's policy, they must think we are stupid.

I think the problem starts with the fact no one actually knows the price of the drinks they are ordering, and like was said, you very rarely see the bill just told a figure...we always pay each time we order, some bars dont like it, but you can see why when so many people have issues running a tab..

Dear friends and guests,

first thank you for your posts, you are helping us to make the things better.

It's true, we have to admit, in the last few days we had some problems with coordinating the bills. This is because it was such an incredible rush of visitors that we never expected, there were sometimes 150 to 200 people there.

But we do everything that everything runs correctly, we have now since yesterday increased our staff again and extra 2 new people hired at short notice.

We attach great importance to the fact that everything is correct and understandable, should be something to your dissatisfaction, please speak to us immediately, we are also every evening on the spot. We hope for your understanding, who knows us, knows that we do everything that our guests feel comfortable.

Kisses

Angel & Richard

Like I said in our post, I’m sure it was an error rather than drinks purposely being added.

I’d be worried your ticket system is doing you out of money, if my bill was 25 up, someone else’s was 25 down, and I’m pretty sure someone with a bill lower than they anticipated, won’t be questioning it, so that’s 25 out of your pocket.

Personally I’d be getting a customer sign a chit every time they order a round, a new chit for each order and keep them together with a clip until the customer is ready to settle, that way they can’t dispute what the total is if they’ve signed.

We also had a similar problem in secrets , lovely lady who bought us over one lager and one g and t , the only drinks we actually had in the 40 or so minutes we were in the place As there was only one other couple who had actually left before us it was hard to understand where she plucked the 35 Euro bill from , again this was close to halved when questioned, but some people who may have had a few to many may have just paid what was asked , I think they just try there luck at times and on occasions get away with it

Have to talk as we find... been going to GC for over 10 years now... different times of year and are always out and about in the bars and clubs pretty much every night (we have seen 3 different owners of the Comeback bar alone)... can honestly say that we have never been overcharged in any of the bars or clubs - Imagine / Comeback / fun4all / Secrets and 2x2 - we usually know what we have had to drink and pretty much what it should cost... we have seen all the bars struggle at really peak times to cope with the numbers of people and realise mistakes can be made, but never heard of others being overcharged when we have been over there...

We tried Patricia's with another couple last night.

We were charged €23 for one vodka and and two bottles of water.

When I questioned the bill, they are charged us for keys that we didnt ask for.

Nice place but not sure on the prices??

That's still 16 euro for one vodka and a bottle of water? Very steep.

Locker keys are 3.50 each

Imagine Bar do operate on a Pay as You Go basis and you are always offered your receipt. Also they have price lists for Drinks on every table, so it's easy to work out your Bill. Never had a problem there in the last 4 years we've been going there.

Secrets has been a Nightmare this trip, it's massively overrated, in our opinion and we won't be going near it, on our next trip.

Patricia's seems to be inconsistent on pricing/charging too eg charging for a locker you didn't ask for, or use.

People starting to drift back to 2x2 but new owner's haven't done anything to improve it.

You would have thought owners of 2x2 would have taken the opportunity to make improvements, so as to build up the customer base again. Not sure where we will head for if/when we go again.

No probs for us in the Comeback Bar but we did tend to go early and get a seat...

.

Can't say the same for the Imagine bar though... Treated badly and will never go there again.

.

This trip we even tried a German kareoke bar at the top of the stairs..The ones where the patrons gawp as you go upstairs... stood out a little but was great fun and MUCH cheaper drinks and tbh more life... would go again.

.

All in all, ok for us this year

Hello...it is a good idea to pay at the moment, at the Bar, so you know that you are paying for what you are getting. No surprises at the end of the night with a big bill, nor the uncertainty of what you are being charge more than you should. On the other hand, it's easier to pay just once. Have to trust nobody is doing anything wrong, on purpose or not.

Just different choices. All ok.

I have been paying on the counter straight away lately.

Have fun next week ...

Sorry for the delay...

ok in summary..

Went to the bar from the Yumbo (fetish week)... we were dressed very differently to the rest of the clientelle (so what eh... we are all supposed to be inclusive etc)...anyway, Latex, leather.. that sort of thing.

.

So we were basically followed round by staff who, eventually, perched themselves on the next table (away in a dark corner near the old exit..). It seemed really odd that two staff members would plonk themselves there for ages when the bar was busy and they must have had loads to do.

But then I then heard one of them say 'keep an eye on these two'. A 'did I actually hear that correctly?' moment. It was loud enough for me to hear and, perhaps, was on purpose..

.

It was, basically, like being followed round by a store detective as a kid because they think you are going to steal.

.

God knows what they thought we were going to do. Perhaps run amock and start drinking blood...

.

Funny thing was, there was a fetish 'fancy dress' a few days later and we did give it another go. However the dark and heat (in latex) meant a quick move to the Comeback Bar was in order.

'Treated badly?'... Not the end of the world and maybe an over reaction on our part... (we were pissed off at the time of the above post tbh)..however it's not nice to go somewhere where you are obviously not welcome.

.

So there you go and I don't think it was a misunderstanding on our part.

.

.

We have been loads before, over the years, in normal attire and found the staff great... Just shows how dressing differently can provoke a reaction from vanilla types.

.

Anyway, perhaps they had an 'off day'. Doesn't really matter now anyway as we won't be finding out.

We’ve been going to GC for over 10 years and yes have experienced issues with bills, issues with bar / club owners and or staff, premium drinks which were clearly not premium, but these have always been resolved and in fairness a lot of the time genuine mistakes. Everyone has off days, staff and owners working extremely hard at busy times can appear to be being a bit short with you and sometimes things can be taken the wrong way / to heart while we’re on holiday living it up (1 to many maybe). We still go, still have a great time, if a bill isn’t right we’ll ask them to check it and I’m sure as before they’d sort it. Secrets is the one to be wary of in our opinion we’ve never been charged correctly in there. Looking forward to 26th November when we arrive again

Tonny and Saskia are lovely and welcoming despite him being a grumpy Dutch bloke and Fun4all will look after hand bags behind the bar, bring towels if eagerness makes you forget and their measures are more than ample. Trolling is defined as creating discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people by posting inflammatory or off-topic messages in an online community. Basically, a social media troll is someone who purposely says something controversial in order to get a rise out of other users.

Reading that Northernsouthern I think trolling refers more to your recent responses....I am sticking to topic, however you don’t seem to be.

Anyway why are you still here, I thought your PDI journey was over, despite a brilliant holiday :

Can't say the same for the Imagine bar though... Treated badly and will never go there again.

Treated badly in what way?

We have only known Tony and Saskia and their staff to be welcoming friendly and professional about their business.

I'm wondering what you deem as bad treatment ?

They were the Peacocks

Oh my goodness....

Northern-southern strike again, see their posts in another thread. Apparently according to them PDI is unsafe, full of beggars/vagabonds, the clubs aren’t as good and now....Peacocks whatever they mean by that... also they don’t like single males....old Brit couples seem to be their only preference....despite this they had a brilliant holiday...the mind boggles...

Very eloquently put, but as you weren't there, using your logic, why did you ever post? People can see exactly what you are, despite the hidden profile

"Have to talk as we find... been going to GC for over 10 years now... different times of year and are always out and about in the bars and clubs pretty much every night (we have seen 3 different owners of the Comeback bar alone)... can honestly say that we have never been overcharged in any of the bars or clubs - Imagine / Comeback / fun4all / Secrets and 2x2 - we usually know what we have had to drink and pretty much what it should cost... we have seen all the bars struggle at really peak times to cope with the numbers of people and realise mistakes can be made, but never heard of others being overcharged when we have been over there..."

We also have never had a problem but have heard others complain about Secrets.

"Dear friends and guests,

first thank you for your posts, you are helping us to make the things better.

Kisses

Angel & Richard"

It's great to hear everyone is enjoying the new look bar. We've never had a problem with our bill even when the bar is really busy. See you all again in December xxx

Ok.

Not sure which people you are referring to?..

But RB posted on the other thread she had met me in PDI and I was exceptional...so maybe it’s only you.

All you are doing is trying to create negativity on PDI and I am offering a positive response, as are many others.

I say what I think.

#goodbye
