The re-vamped La Mirage ....

Looks great, feels great and will be great.......but you gave to take in to consideration that it's basically " brand new". The front desk management, (Wendy and Mary Carmen) cleaners and the maintenance staff certainly will and have all their work cut out in keeping it looking this pristine. I do really feel sorry for these guys as they had their work cut out in the past and worked so hard in keeping the "old and pre-updated" LM in some kind of shape.

My (and other guests in the complex) one and only negative we can see on this fantastic place is the fact that Happy Hour is way too early at the moment and the 4 till 5 oclock slot isnt really working and needs reverting back to the 5 until 6 slot as there are way too many guests still wanting to stay out on the sunbeds and NOT get changed into sexy wear as it's still too hot and sunny. (I know its all a "seasonal" thing and wii change with the months but hopefully the owners could review this in the near future as I feel it will/could benefit both the guests and the complex's profits before the LM Happy Hour tradition falls away and eventually dies out.

May I add, we've also heard, whilst here, that this updated LM is better than the new Venus up the road (never been ourselves) and maybe it's missing an opportunity with an open BBQ day like Venus already does.

Anyway.... I'm thinking right now that I could be beginning to sound like some kind of Hotel Inspector and at the end of the day it's all down to personal choice and hopefully you lot out there will have your own views so come and try it.

This live report comes from your roving reporters AWCOUPLE at the New And Much Improved La Mirage.xx

Cap d’Agde, France

Hope it's not all trashed by the time we get there the last two weeks of November!

The happy hour had been brought forward to 4 till 5 last year and everybody agreed it was too early, surprised that they didn't take on board said comments.

It's great that Wendy is still there, she really makes the place work.

We went to Venus star to the BBQ the other day and off for a day visit to mirage tomorrow. Can't wait.

Venus was very busy and bigger than la mirage so for us la mirage will probably stay our favourite. But variety is the spice if life and it's always good to have choice.

Glad to hear that La M is looking good after the refurb! We are out 2 weeks today so really excited after hearing such positive reports. What does everyone think of the new big sunbeds ?? As far as Happy Hour is concerned,4 is way too early and we did tell Wendy this when we were out in April. It’s such a great tradition and must not be allowed to die out .... we will certainly try to persuade them to go back to 5pm again ..... maybe if enough of us ‘complain ‘ ???

We have said the same about happy hour every time we’ve been out during the winter months. Back in December and will carry on the crusade if need be!

I think it was about 90-95% of the guests all said it was way way too early. I personally think 5 oclock-7.00 oclock would work better.

It may be a ploy to save money by making it earlier. No one goes until 5 or 6 and have to pay full price for drinks?

It is our first time to GC, and booked for La Mirage for 4 days in Jan. We live in Spain on the Costa Blanca and enjoy a very active scene here, so we will not on be holiday as such. Have heard & read so much about GC on the forums we have to have a look !! .

THE most important thing about Happy Hour is that everyone dresses up specially and gets together round one big table. We just worry that with such an early start time this great La M tradition will die. We are out again from this Thursday and will definetly join in ( but may be a little after 4)

Is it possible to visit La Mirage for the day? We're in Maspalomas 2nd to 9th November and wondered if we could pop in?

We have just got back after 10 days at la mirage, new rooms are superb, new sunbeds superb, staff superb, only bad point was happy hour, which needs to go back an hour everyone agrees on that, we went to venus star bbq to compare, and we prefer the atmosphere at la mirage , the set out is far better, we will be back next year and looking forward to it already,

Possible answer to the earlier happy hour??......if the residents agreed to meet by the playroom and bring their own drinks!!....We're sure a "social" could be held there, cheaper than buy one get one free??......bet happy hour would revert back to 5-6 pretty quickly??

That’s a good one ... we personally prefer happy hour from 6-7
