North Lakes and Manchester

Been to Venus star bbq today and very impressed, although some work still ongoing it’s very spacious compared to the old and has a lot of potential, staff were very good and food was excellent, it is a little further out from pdi, but less than 5 euro for a taxi, we’ve booked for April and very much looking forward to it xxx

been to bbq's in both and going to venus for a week in may as it seems a bit more intimate and has a lovely playroom. plus you can go to venus star for free during the day when you stay in venus

Cap d’Agde, France

Been to both, new Venus is a bigger version of the old but with a good restaurant.

Worth going for the BBQ in the new one but the resort is on a hill and quite windy.

Very classy and upmarket but wouldn’t swap it for La Mirage which beats it hands down for ambiance, friendliness and fun.

Gran Canaria, Spain

We visit both a few times a week, the big one is really fantastic and the little one more familiar.

But very important, when you want to book: In the little one in winter at about 3 pm the sun don´t shine anymore inside, so all the sunbeds are in the shadow and it´s very cold. So for this Venus Star is much more better...

Been to both, original is good but star is better, the only thing missing is a dungeon/playroom but don’t let that put you off, it’s so chilled you float into the pool

First visit to new Venus. La Mirage need to up their game with their refurb in the summer if they want to keep up. It’s a bit tired and living a bit on loyalty. Sun beds at Venus are top dollar and that’s one thing Mirage need to upgrade.

Layout at Mirage maybe lends to chatting more than Venus, but rooms here are more luxurious.

If I had to choose right now Venus would get my money even if it is 50ish Euros more expensive.

It’s an opinion that’s all anyone can disagree xx

Totally agree. We went for 5 Yrs in a row to la mirage and stopped . It’s in need of a major refurb. Very tired and the bungalows need serious upgrading now. Just our humble opinion.

We are wondering whether to stay at La Mirage or New Venus over Christmas this year. Been going to La Mirage for years but it would be nice to try something new. Is it possible to walk from New Venus to Playa del Ingles / Maspalomas beach or do you need to rely on taxis?

Yes to Maspalomas Beach as Venus Star is at the foot of the hill and you come out at the Petrol Station on the main drag. There’s also a bus to the beach that goes past the resort. We walked to PDI twice but it’s 30 mins at least so a 5 euro taxi is probably better. Loved Venus as it was fully booked at New Year but got really quiet from 2nd Jan onwards. Hope that helps

Great thank you, that's very helpful! We like walking so 30min + to PDI sounds reasonable. As long as we can walk to PDI and take taxi back we will be happy. And we noticed Venus also rents bikes so could even cycle to the beach mind you not sure how safe it is after a few drinks at Kiosk 4... Starting to think we will stay at New Venus as we can already book and secure our apartment for Christmas
