It's not a place for nightlife in the UK sense, more like the continental style of sitting outside at a table culture.

If you want to sit with the tourists ( badly dressed ,smoking,drinking far too much etc) go to 'fish alley ' just behind the iconic big round Port Hotel .

If you want a Spanish feel ( well dressed ,well behaved ) go to the ' Spanish tapas square' which is 5 minutes away from Fish Alley and is right behind the main post office .

Lot worse places to go in Fungie, opposite the port with all the English bars on a Saturday night being one lol.

Fish Alley is in Fuengirola not Benalmadena. There is very little dancing to be had in Fuengirola although Moochers JazzBar /Restaurant has a very good resident musician and sometimes people get up to dance after dinner. Also Pogs Irish music bar is the main live music venue and really rocks late on a Friday and Saturday night (other nights are quiet) but only gets going after midnight . It has some good local bands playing though who get the mixed age crowd joining in .

Knowing where you are staying there are much nearer places for you guys, check out La Sala at Nueva Andalucia, Wednesdays are a good night take a look at their website, its also a bit more up market than fish alley lol
