There are car hire firms in Spain hiring cars at low prices, then when you get to desk loading on extras in some cases more than the double initial price quoted, comfort insurance for instance, research the company.

Hi we use price comparison site Do You Spain!

However take out your own "insurance excess cover" before you get here which you can buy on line. Then make sure you choose full to full fuel policy! Also some companies now do limited mileage and charge you extra if you go over the daily allowance so you can select unlimited mileage. You will get a sum usually about 1000 € blocked on your credit card also. But as long as you follow this advice all should be ok. We have hired many times using the above rules an d been fine!

The last twice I've gone through Do You Spain and got a weeks hire for under £10 with fire fly and they just freeze €850 on your credit card if you don't take the extra insurance. Be careful if you use an offsite hire company at the airport as they normally take the money out of your credit card then refund you which then results in money lost due to exchange rates. For the fuel I normally just take the partial refund option and return it full then it only cost €20 for the service charge.
