OUR REVIEW OF CLUBS/BARS ETC IN GRAN CANARIA

This an overview of the Clubs and Bars we went to in Gran Canaria. Due to its popularity it might be a good improvement to Fabswingers if they could start adding more European Countries to the Club Review section. In lieu of that happening we’ll do short reviews here. We’ll just prefix that with obviously take our opinions on all the clubs we visited as just that, our opinion. Everyone likes different things from a club night. We hope this information will prove helpful for people going for the first time.

We didn’t get to every single club, but we certainly did more than enough and had a really good time, made some new friends and had some very memorable encounters. We met couples from all over Europe, some there for the first time, some there for their 20th time. So whenever you go, it will be busy enough and there will be people to meet. Double check all the information below, as things change and while we have done our best to get everything correct that doesn’t mean we won’t have made a mistake.

So we visited in April, we stayed in Maspalomas side, over from the Golf Course at an adults only (non-swinging) hotel. We can highly recommend it. Called FBC Fortuny - Very quiet, lovely pool and five Euros in a taxi will get you anywhere to the clubs in PDI plus it’s a 15 minute walk to the beach, you can self-cater but it has staff 24 hours and a small shop.

Most of the clubs in Gran Canaria are in Playa Del Ingles (There’s one in St Augustin further along the coast a bit and a couple in the capital up north, but the Spanish people we spoke to did not rate those at all) There’s also two Swingers only resorts (Venus and La Mirage) and there is talk of a couple more opening. The clubs and swingers bars are predominantly located in three shopping centres, The Cita, The Sandia and The Nilo. Cita and Sandia are within walking distance of each other as well as from the Yumbo (The Gay equivalent and a really fun place to go for drinks) Nilo is further north and over the bypass, less than a ten minute walk from the Yumbo, but perhaps not best done in heels.

COST - Overall most clubs will cost you ten euros - that is effectively the door price which you normally pay on the way out and includes two drinks, so make sure you first two are alcohol and not a ! Lockers are normally five Euros extra in some clubs, in others they were free. Drinks in the clubs are cheap for the most part and the wine pretty decent. Most also had free condoms in trays on the bar.

DRESS CODE – Because of the heat that is predominant for the majority of the year many people would go to the clubs in shorts and sandals, but people do still dress up here, it’s just more casual and laid back because of the weather. Some clubs have themed nights so do check on their websites.

OPENING TIMES – Most of the clubs here are open between 5 to 7 days a week and typically open either at 9 or 10pm, getting busy from 11pm though it’s not unusual at some venues for everyone to arrive at 1am. Be aware clubs will often close an hour earlier than advertised if not busy. Most are open until 2/3am sometimes later at weekends

CITA CENTER (All clubs are in the basement of the shopping center)

BARS – There’s three Swing bars that we found in the Cita. Upstairs is the Comeback Bar, quite small, mentioned by numerous people on here and a good place to meet up, normally from 8/9pm – Lots of English couples as well as people from all over Europe. Comeback made some of the nicest cocktails we had on the trip, even if they were a little pricey. The Imagine Bar, newer and a little more intimate and cosy run by a very nice Dutch couple, this was our favourite of the bars, it’s very easy to miss as it’s tucked away in one corner of the venue, again on the second level. The Swing In, is in the basement near the clubs. We only saw it from the outside and despite the best attempts of a very inebriated Irish patron to get us to come in we never made it into that one. It’s a small intimate pub, you can only see part of the inside from the outside, so it feels from what we could see, a little more discreet but it rarely seemed busy. People either went to Imagine or the Comeback to meet socially.

FUN4ALL – The first club we went to and one of our favourites, we went here about 6 times. Run by a very friendly and helpful Dutch couple, it reminded us of Ourplace4fun in London. It has a nice bar, dance area, poles etc, lockers and three main play areas (One lockable room) each with its own shower. Plus a couple of other nooks. It attracted a high percentage of British and Dutch couples and was always busy around midnight, every day of the week. A small number of single guys are allowed here, but they were well behaved. Be aware smoking is permitted in one corner area of the club. The owners of fun4all also own the nearby Sex Cinema (Called Hot Scandal) which has a gay/Bi and straight section, about ten meters from the club in the basement.

SECRETS – Literally right next door to Fun4all and opposite a rowdy German bar, entering these venues proves entertaining. Secrets is the largest of the clubs in GC. You come into a sizeable bar with dance area and a raised stage where on Friday/Saturdays there’s an erotic dance show (M/F) There’s a smoking area around one side and then two sections of play areas, one for couples only and one mixed (Which is larger). The couples only area is a good size with plenty of playing space only none of it very private so good for voyeurs, however there’s two lockable playrooms in the other section and several other playing spaces including dark room, glory holes, Jacuzzi and showers. While we liked this club, found it well run and the single men were generally well behaved, we found the play rooms a little sterile and lacking in imagination. The décor and lighting was all very minimal in terms of effort and we thought a great deal more could be added to the place. The Jacuzzi was somewhat tepid on the nights we went, probably fine for most people, but we like it warmer. This was still a good club, with great staff and always busy later on (around 1pm) we played here a little bit but not as much as we would have liked too. The dancers were a great addition and nice to see something for the ladies, not just the men. Toilets are unisex and the venue has decent lockers too. Cocktails here are strong and well made.

VENUS – (Not to be confused with Venus Resort) This small club is relatively new and located at the other end of the basement in Cita. We went there with another couple and there was only 6 of us there but, it has a really nice Jacuzzi, two lockable rooms and the addtional play areas are decent and the layout was well thought out and very clean. It might be a good venue to go to if you hook up with a couple for a play and want somewhere with lockable rooms to yourselves and a decent Jacuzzi to chill in afterwards. No doubt it will get busier and finds its feet as time goes on.

AFRODITA – Advertised as a swingers club, we heard different opinions over what it is exactly. It was the only club in Cita that we do not go into. It’s located just near Venus. Again, probably worth checking out with another couple.

SANDIA CENTER

There’s only one bar (Bude 4) here and one club. Well, we were told there was a bar also in the basement run by a German lady, but it might have moved/confused with the bar upstairs as this is the only one. Bude is a small bar with mainly German patrons. We were the only non-German couple in the bar on the night we went. There was around 12 couples there and a couple of single guys. The owner was lovely enough and guys friendly but we only went there the one time, finding socialising there a little more challenging.

2 x 2 – This club has a really good layout, nice lighting and well thought out play areas. There is a very clear divide (and undress code) between the playing half of the club and the social bar which you come into on entrance. The bar/dance area is of a good size, comparable with Secrets and there is an outside covered smoker’s terrace, so no smoking in the actual venue at all. The playing side of the club has a grope room, an orgy room, two lockable rooms with viewing portals, a dark room, a car you can shag in and showers plus some other areas. Now, we went first on a Monday which was couples only, but got there late and they were about to close, so we came back on the Tuesday. We had been told 2x2 was very much for people who wanted to play and get on with it, so we had no issue with at all and there were some lovely couples in on the Tuesday (Around 15) and around the same number of single guys by the time we left. Now the staff were only two girls, they worked tirelessly throughout the night, so when we had an issue with one guy in particular we didn’t want to bother them. This guy just followed us everywhere. (He wasn’t the only one, but was the biggest pain) In the playrooms, out of the playrooms, we would move, he would move. He touched twice without asking, even after we had told him no three times. I am sure if we had said something he would have been kicked out. The single guy who actually got the most action that night was an English guy who spent time talking to couples at the bar first, in fact we wanted to play with him, but it was impossible. Every time we tried to play anywhere, guys were all around us, pushing over us etc. 6 couples left within half an hour of arriving, so the atmosphere clearly wasn’t conducive to what some others wanted on that occasion. We want to be clear though, we loved this club, just not the behaviour of some of the men in it and like we said, we didn’t want to bother the staff, so it was fine. We must also add the club did at one stage stop letting single men in and turned several away. So they did attempt to control the numbers.

NILO CENTER

There’s two clubs in Nilo, and it was here we had the most fun.

MOONLIGHT DREAM – Owned by a lovely half Italian / Half German youthful guy (With his wife, it was her night off) who speaks seven languages, the Moonlight website did it a disservice. We arrived here relatively early, only us and two ladies who were being shown around to book it for a party (Some party we bet!) the club was lovely, really nice décor, decent toilets and showers and a very clear divide between the playing areas and the social bar / dance area. Other friends of ours went here and it was packed but we lucked out, they had a big event the night before our visit. We loved the club, the playrooms are really we put together, intimate, several are lockable and very inventive and not as small as the images on the website suggest. There is a small SM area and a few other things. In the end we just chatted to the owner for an hour and then went to the club next door, but we will be back here for sure on our next trip. Do give it a try, perhaps in a group.

ETERNITY – This was the last club we went to and was the one we played in the most. Right next door to moonlight, the club is owned by the Transgender Jose, an outrageous character ‘I like the big banana – do you like the big banana?’ The layout of the club was extremely well thought out and next to Secrets it was the second biggest in GC. It had a fantastic selection of play areas, including several that were lockable, decent showers and a warm Jacuzzi. The dance area here really gets used and it was predominantly us and Spanish couples, of whom several of the men tried it on with us alone, even though their partners were in the bar. Not a problem, but not our thing. Couples splitting up and playing entirely separately is more common over here, we’re just not into that. The bar design here is very clever, singles have to sit around one side, while couples get to be on the side with the dancefloor, we met an amazing couple from Portugal with their hot army girlfriend and that was our night sorted. There were 3 single girls, 3 guys and around 15 to 20 couples on Friday night we went. Saturday is much busier and they have a DJ. This club was a little more expensive at 20 Euros, but the two cocktails they made for us included in the price were among the best we had. There were some issues in the venue that needed addressing promptly though. The Jacuzzi was missing some tiles and you had to be aware of where you were stepping and some of the playrooms had holders for soap dispensers and hand towels but they were almost all universally empty. These are easy things to fix and just need keeping an eye on. Some of the play beds have sharp corners, but the rooms and use of space here is really inventive and it’s a great place. For actually playing, this was probably the best club for us on this trip.

SWINGERS RESORTS

VENUS – We visited this during the day for one of their inclusive BBQ (50 Euros per couple, including as much wine as you can drink between 2 and 5pm, cocktails not included) We arrived early at 12 midday. It’s basically a series of lovely bungalows all centred on the pool and bar. It’s extremely pretty, and play beds adorn the pool on three sides. Elsewhere outside there’s several play areas, including a lovely Jacuzzi (we were quick to get in that) with a mirror above it and orgy bed and massage table next door. Downstairs they have a really well stocked sex shop next to reception with everything from sex toys to fisting lube! In fact they had a better selection of sexy outfits and lingerie here than any of the sex shops that we went into in GC and the prices were comparable to those in the UK. The couples staying here were mostly from Germany, Sweden, Italy and Norway and there were four other couples visiting. If you go to the BBQ DO NOT EAT BREAKFAST that day. God, they feed you and then some! The food was great too. It’s all very much civilised as you sit all on one long table, being careful not to go into the pool if you’re on the outside! We loved this place and its couples only all the time, which made us feel very at ease. We made some great friends here too. We went to book it for later in the year, on the dates we tried it was all booked up already!!!! The bungalows themselves look lovely and the place just had a really great laid back atmosphere, there was also a large additional playroom downstairs with sling and several play beds. Additionally there’s an outdoor shower and toilets for visiting guests. Lockers and towels are provided. You can do a day visit on non-barbecue days for 35 euros but guests have to leave by 8pm.

LA MIRAGE – The other resort and essentially a larger version of Venus. We ran out of time before we could visit here but met three couples who were staying there and two others who had gone on day passes. Everyone seemed to like the place and gave very positive reports about it. Again it has a pool, Jacuzzi and play rooms on site. There’s several informative reviews on Tripadvisor so you can gain more detail there. We were told you can get day passes here too, but we can’t see where it says this on the website.

We’ll do a different post about our experiences of the Dunes and Kiosk 4 – we hope this is helpful for those of you going or those who have been but have only been to some of the clubs and bars in PDI. We cannot wait to go back.

Just on a note of safety about the beaches by the dunes - we are both strong swimmers and found the tide around the beaches between kiosk 4 and 8 extremely dangerous and very strong, far more so than it looks. Take care if you’re having a swim as someone drowned in that very area the week after we left.

There’s several informative reviews on Tripadvisor so you can gain more detail there. We were told you can get day passes here too, but we can’t see where it says this on the website.

We’ll do a different post about our experiences of the Dunes and Kiosk 4 – we hope this is helpful for those of you going or those who have been but have only been to some of the clubs and bars in PDI. We cannot wait to go back.

Just on a note of safety about the beaches by the dunes - we are both strong swimmers and found the tide around the beaches between kiosk 4 and 8 extremely dangerous and very strong, far more so than it looks. Take care if you’re having a swim as someone drowned in that very area the week after we left.

Totally agree. I liked fun4all most as well. It says it all in the name. I played mostly in there as he watches. Venus and Jacuzzi is my best to relax. 2x2 not for me but probably went on wrong night. I do play with single males but too eager and rude. Deb xx

"This an overview of the Clubs and Bars we went to in Gran Canaria. Due to its popularity it might be a good improvement to Fabswingers if they could start adding more European Countries to the Club Review section. In lieu of that happening we’ll do short reviews here. We’ll just prefix that with obviously take our opinions on all the clubs we visited as just that, our opinion. Everyone likes different things from a club night. We hope this information will prove helpful for people going for the first time.

We didn’t get to every single club, but we certainly did more than enough and had a really good time, made some new friends and had some very memorable encounters. We met couples from all over Europe, some there for the first time, some there for their 20th time. So whenever you go, it will be busy enough and there will be people to meet. Double check all the information below, as things change and while we have done our best to get everything correct that doesn’t mean we won’t have made a mistake.

So we visited in April, we stayed in Maspalomas side, over from the Golf Course at an adults only (non-swinging) hotel. We can highly recommend it. Called FBC Fortuny - Very quiet, lovely pool and five Euros in a taxi will get you anywhere to the clubs in PDI plus it’s a 15 minute walk to the beach, you can self-cater but it has staff 24 hours and a small shop.

Most of the clubs in Gran Canaria are in Playa Del Ingles (There’s one in St Augustin further along the coast a bit and a couple in the capital up north, but the Spanish people we spoke to did not rate those at all) There’s also two Swingers only resorts (Venus and La Mirage) and there is talk of a couple more opening. The clubs and swingers bars are predominantly located in three shopping centres, The Cita, The Sandia and The Nilo. Cita and Sandia are within walking distance of each other as well as from the Yumbo (The Gay equivalent and a really fun place to go for drinks) Nilo is further north and over the bypass, less than a ten minute walk from the Yumbo, but perhaps not best done in heels.

COST - Overall most clubs will cost you ten euros - that is effectively the door price which you normally pay on the way out and includes two drinks, so make sure you first two are alcohol and not a ! Lockers are normally five Euros extra in some clubs, in others they were free. Drinks in the clubs are cheap for the most part and the wine pretty decent. Most also had free condoms in trays on the bar.

DRESS CODE – Because of the heat that is predominant for the majority of the year many people would go to the clubs in shorts and sandals, but people do still dress up here, it’s just more casual and laid back because of the weather. Some clubs have themed nights so do check on their websites.

OPENING TIMES – Most of the clubs here are open between 5 to 7 days a week and typically open either at 9 or 10pm, getting busy from 11pm though it’s not unusual at some venues for everyone to arrive at 1am. Be aware clubs will often close an hour earlier than advertised if not busy. Most are open until 2/3am sometimes later at weekends

CITA CENTER (All clubs are in the basement of the shopping center)

BARS – There’s three Swing bars that we found in the Cita. Upstairs is the Comeback Bar, quite small, mentioned by numerous people on here and a good place to meet up, normally from 8/9pm – Lots of English couples as well as people from all over Europe. Comeback made some of the nicest cocktails we had on the trip, even if they were a little pricey. The Imagine Bar, newer and a little more intimate and cosy run by a very nice Dutch couple, this was our favourite of the bars, it’s very easy to miss as it’s tucked away in one corner of the venue, again on the second level. The Swing In, is in the basement near the clubs. We only saw it from the outside and despite the best attempts of a very inebriated Irish patron to get us to come in we never made it into that one. It’s a small intimate pub, you can only see part of the inside from the outside, so it feels from what we could see, a little more discreet but it rarely seemed busy. People either went to Imagine or the Comeback to meet socially.

FUN4ALL – The first club we went to and one of our favourites, we went here about 6 times. Run by a very friendly and helpful Dutch couple, it reminded us of Ourplace4fun in London. It has a nice bar, dance area, poles etc, lockers and three main play areas (One lockable room) each with its own shower. Plus a couple of other nooks. It attracted a high percentage of British and Dutch couples and was always busy around midnight, every day of the week. A small number of single guys are allowed here, but they were well behaved. Be aware smoking is permitted in one corner area of the club. The owners of fun4all also own the nearby Sex Cinema (Called Hot Scandal) which has a gay/Bi and straight section, about ten meters from the club in the basement.

SECRETS – Literally right next door to Fun4all and opposite a rowdy German bar, entering these venues proves entertaining. Secrets is the largest of the clubs in GC. You come into a sizeable bar with dance area and a raised stage where on Friday/Saturdays there’s an erotic dance show (M/F) There’s a smoking area around one side and then two sections of play areas, one for couples only and one mixed (Which is larger). The couples only area is a good size with plenty of playing space only none of it very private so good for voyeurs, however there’s two lockable playrooms in the other section and several other playing spaces including dark room, glory holes, Jacuzzi and showers. While we liked this club, found it well run and the single men were generally well behaved, we found the play rooms a little sterile and lacking in imagination. The décor and lighting was all very minimal in terms of effort and we thought a great deal more could be added to the place. The Jacuzzi was somewhat tepid on the nights we went, probably fine for most people, but we like it warmer. This was still a good club, with great staff and always busy later on (around 1pm) we played here a little bit but not as much as we would have liked too. The dancers were a great addition and nice to see something for the ladies, not just the men. Toilets are unisex and the venue has decent lockers too. Cocktails here are strong and well made.

VENUS – (Not to be confused with Venus Resort) This small club is relatively new and located at the other end of the basement in Cita. We went there with another couple and there was only 6 of us there but, it has a really nice Jacuzzi, two lockable rooms and the addtional play areas are decent and the layout was well thought out and very clean. It might be a good venue to go to if you hook up with a couple for a play and want somewhere with lockable rooms to yourselves and a decent Jacuzzi to chill in afterwards. No doubt it will get busier and finds its feet as time goes on.

AFRODITA – Advertised as a swingers club, we heard different opinions over what it is exactly. It was the only club in Cita that we do not go into. It’s located just near Venus. Again, probably worth checking out with another couple.

SANDIA CENTER

There’s only one bar (Bude 4) here and one club. Well, we were told there was a bar also in the basement run by a German lady, but it might have moved/confused with the bar upstairs as this is the only one. Bude is a small bar with mainly German patrons. We were the only non-German couple in the bar on the night we went. There was around 12 couples there and a couple of single guys. The owner was lovely enough and guys friendly but we only went there the one time, finding socialising there a little more challenging.

2 x 2 – This club has a really good layout, nice lighting and well thought out play areas. There is a very clear divide (and undress code) between the playing half of the club and the social bar which you come into on entrance. The bar/dance area is of a good size, comparable with Secrets and there is an outside covered smoker’s terrace, so no smoking in the actual venue at all. The playing side of the club has a grope room, an orgy room, two lockable rooms with viewing portals, a dark room, a car you can shag in and showers plus some other areas. Now, we went first on a Monday which was couples only, but got there late and they were about to close, so we came back on the Tuesday. We had been told 2x2 was very much for people who wanted to play and get on with it, so we had no issue with at all and there were some lovely couples in on the Tuesday (Around 15) and around the same number of single guys by the time we left. Now the staff were only two girls, they worked tirelessly throughout the night, so when we had an issue with one guy in particular we didn’t want to bother them. This guy just followed us everywhere. (He wasn’t the only one, but was the biggest pain) In the playrooms, out of the playrooms, we would move, he would move. He touched twice without asking, even after we had told him no three times. I am sure if we had said something he would have been kicked out. The single guy who actually got the most action that night was an English guy who spent time talking to couples at the bar first, in fact we wanted to play with him, but it was impossible. Every time we tried to play anywhere, guys were all around us, pushing over us etc. 6 couples left within half an hour of arriving, so the atmosphere clearly wasn’t conducive to what some others wanted on that occasion. We want to be clear though, we loved this club, just not the behaviour of some of the men in it and like we said, we didn’t want to bother the staff, so it was fine. We must also add the club did at one stage stop letting single men in and turned several away. So they did attempt to control the numbers.

NILO CENTER

There’s two clubs in Nilo, and it was here we had the most fun.

MOONLIGHT DREAM – Owned by a lovely half Italian / Half German youthful guy (With his wife, it was her night off) who speaks seven languages, the Moonlight website did it a disservice. We arrived here relatively early, only us and two ladies who were being shown around to book it for a party (Some party we bet!) the club was lovely, really nice décor, decent toilets and showers and a very clear divide between the playing areas and the social bar / dance area. Other friends of ours went here and it was packed but we lucked out, they had a big event the night before our visit. We loved the club, the playrooms are really we put together, intimate, several are lockable and very inventive and not as small as the images on the website suggest. There is a small SM area and a few other things. In the end we just chatted to the owner for an hour and then went to the club next door, but we will be back here for sure on our next trip. Do give it a try, perhaps in a group.

ETERNITY – This was the last club we went to and was the one we played in the most. Right next door to moonlight, the club is owned by the Transgender Jose, an outrageous character ‘I like the big banana – do you like the big banana?’ The layout of the club was extremely well thought out and next to Secrets it was the second biggest in GC. It had a fantastic selection of play areas, including several that were lockable, decent showers and a warm Jacuzzi. The dance area here really gets used and it was predominantly us and Spanish couples, of whom several of the men tried it on with us alone, even though their partners were in the bar. Not a problem, but not our thing. Couples splitting up and playing entirely separately is more common over here, we’re just not into that. The bar design here is very clever, singles have to sit around one side, while couples get to be on the side with the dancefloor, we met an amazing couple from Portugal with their hot army girlfriend and that was our night sorted. There were 3 single girls, 3 guys and around 15 to 20 couples on Friday night we went. Saturday is much busier and they have a DJ. This club was a little more expensive at 20 Euros, but the two cocktails they made for us included in the price were among the best we had. There were some issues in the venue that needed addressing promptly though. The Jacuzzi was missing some tiles and you had to be aware of where you were stepping and some of the playrooms had holders for soap dispensers and hand towels but they were almost all universally empty. These are easy things to fix and just need keeping an eye on. Some of the play beds have sharp corners, but the rooms and use of space here is really inventive and it’s a great place. For actually playing, this was probably the best club for us on this trip.

SWINGERS RESORTS

VENUS – We visited this during the day for one of their inclusive BBQ (50 Euros per couple, including as much wine as you can drink between 2 and 5pm, cocktails not included) We arrived early at 12 midday. It’s basically a series of lovely bungalows all centred on the pool and bar. It’s extremely pretty, and play beds adorn the pool on three sides. Elsewhere outside there’s several play areas, including a lovely Jacuzzi (we were quick to get in that) with a mirror above it and orgy bed and massage table next door. Downstairs they have a really well stocked sex shop next to reception with everything from sex toys to fisting lube! In fact they had a better selection of sexy outfits and lingerie here than any of the sex shops that we went into in GC and the prices were comparable to those in the UK. The couples staying here were mostly from Germany, Sweden, Italy and Norway and there were four other couples visiting. If you go to the BBQ DO NOT EAT BREAKFAST that day. God, they feed you and then some! The food was great too. It’s all very much civilised as you sit all on one long table, being careful not to go into the pool if you’re on the outside! We loved this place and its couples only all the time, which made us feel very at ease. We made some great friends here too. We went to book it for later in the year, on the dates we tried it was all booked up already!!!! The bungalows themselves look lovely and the place just had a really great laid back atmosphere, there was also a large additional playroom downstairs with sling and several play beds. Additionally there’s an outdoor shower and toilets for visiting guests. Lockers and towels are provided. You can do a day visit on non-barbecue days for 35 euros but guests have to leave by 8pm.

LA MIRAGE – The other resort and essentially a larger version of Venus. We ran out of time before we could visit here but met three couples who were staying there and two others who had gone on day passes. Everyone seemed to like the place and gave very positive reports about it. Again it has a pool, Jacuzzi and play rooms on site. There’s several informative reviews on Tripadvisor so you can gain more detail there. We were told you can get day passes here too, but we can’t see where it says this on the website.

A more skillful review of GC was posted a while back and is still the best one on this site...some of the info is out of date now, but for a bit of entertaining travel writing this is one of the best in the Forum and is clearly written by a professional
