Nudist beach etiquette

Hello!

We're looking to go on holiday to Gran Canaria this year and one of the items on our to do list is to visit one of the nudist beaches there.

As it's something we've yet to do, I'm a little nervous at the prospect of stripping off completely on the first visit. Would it be a total faux pas to keep my bikini bottoms on whilst we're there? Or is that acceptable?

It took me a few visits to our local club before I felt comfortable enough to bare all in the hot tub.

You can wear what you want. There are NO rules as to what you can or cannot do at a nudist beach. Even naturist camps do not insist on full nudity if the person so feels that way.

Remember though, the whole point of nudist beaches is for like minded people to be able to be 'au natural' amongst others of the same ilk. Your fellow nudists won't stop and stare, the only ones who do are the curious who walk through the beach front to see what it's like.

Just as no one is forced to go topless on a topless beach,you are not forced to strip completely on nudist beach.

You might feel,after a while a little self conscious,if you are the only one with bottoms on,and enjoy the feeling of liberation should you decide to remove them.

I visited Gran Canaria solo last July and decided to check out Kiosk 4 Maspalomas beach. I had never dared to bare before but I must admit I felt completely comfortable in the company of fellow nudists. Make sure however that you apply plenty of lotion to those usually never seen areas as I did manage to end up with rather pink cheeks and I don't mean blushing. As others have commented it's really all about you feeling comfortable in your own way. But don't be scared it's actually very liberating. So much so I'm heading back 11th to 18th April for a 2nd visit. Enjoy your holiday.

I was nervous first time, but just whipped it all off, no one batted an eyelid!! Enjoy!!

Went to Maspalomas last summer with my girlfriend. I've been to nudist beaches before but she hadn't. I told her she could keep whatever she wanted on as there was no pressure. We started just behind kiosk 4 on the edge of the dunes. She stripped completely pretty soon as we were tucked away. I was proud of her as she has put on some weight and isn't body confident at the moment. Word of advice, it gets bloody hot when you're not closer to the sea and there's no breeze! We were roasting so I suggested moving closer to the shoreline as it was cooler. She was happy to and we spent a great few hours chilling in the sun. Drinks from the kiosk are pretty cheap but it was weird queuing up to order starkers! Really surprised me when my gf went and got a round and did so naked. It was about a 50m walk to the bar and was pretty crowded.I was amazed by her doing this! She even wanted to get a lounger the next day and that is right in the thick of it. I didn't say much to her but I was so proud of her! We were discussing her experience with a female friend of hers and she explained that within 5 mins she actually felt more comfortable naked on the beach, queuing up for a drink than she does by the pool in her bikini. Funny how the mind works! We plan another trip to GC soon, have looked into a few naked camping sites and will be heading to Studland this summer as it's local to us. Hope this helps. X

I agree but strangely find myself looking at the half dressed people more than the naked! Gf said the same.

Please let us know how you get on. If you let me know which area you're booked in, I can let you know the best way to the naturist section. A lot of people seem to have a job finding it. We stayed in Maspalomas and just got taxis to the beach and PDI. The beach is easier to find and closer to the Maspalomas end of the beach. Can recommend a really good, cheap resort.

As the above poster has said,the nudist area is much easier to find from the maspalomas beach.it's a 10/15 minute walk along the beach heading towards pde.

If you start from the pde beach it's a 40/45 minute walk.

I went nude here last year it was my first time and it felt very liberating , after the first few minutes it feels so natural . Go for it you'll be fine x
