Depends what you want. If you want something with stunning scenery (with a car) but totally soulless, dull evenings then the south is the place to go.

If you like a bit of continental vibe, hit the north...as Mark E Smith once said.

The Riu Oliva or Tres Islas Palace on the Grand Playa in Corralejo.

Fantastic on the beach location more than makes up for the dated hotels.

and the dunes just south of the Oliva are great for action.
