Fuerteventura/Gran Canaria

Hello everyone.

It’s always good to keep this in mind about the island… mainly to avoid any confusion.

I wrote these words a while ago, but I like to repost it every now and then

After a long time reading posts on this forum about the island of Fuerteventura, I would like to post a few tips and recommendations. After 25 years living on the island I hope it answers many of the questions that are raised here and, in most cases, have an easy answer.

1) First of all and most importantly, we are not all looking for the same type of holiday when we travel. While some are looking for stress-relieving relaxation holidays, others are looking for nightlife and wild fun. And the same thing happens with swinger meetings.

2) We could say that Fuerteventura is two islands in one. The north area (Corralejo, Lajares, El Cotillo, Tindaya) and the south area (Morro Jable, Jandía, Costa Calma, La Pared, Caleta de Fuste). Both areas are different and have wonderful places. The main difference... in general the south is more "German" and the north is more mixed or "British". There are exceptions like Caleta de Fuste which is mainly British and I place it in the south of the island.

3) I am looking for relaxation, beach, few people and some fun... Where do I go?:

I recommend you El Cotillo in the north and La Pared in the south.

4) I am looking for beach, nightlife and lots of bars and restaurants... Where do I go?:

I recommend you Corralejo in the north and Caleta de Fuste or Morro Jable in the south.

5) Are all the beaches on the island nudist?

The general answer is yes. There is no restriction on any beach. Almost all beaches are clothing optional. You just have to avoid the urban beaches. When you get to the beach if you walk a few steps you will easily notice the nudist (or mixed) area.

6) Is Fuerteventura a swinger island?

The quick answer is no. Fuerteventura is not at the level of other places like Playa del Inglés/Maspalomas or Cap D'Age. It does not mean that the island does not have its own swinger scene... but notice it's very different and less wild.

7) Are all nudists swingers?

Absolutely not. You have to be very careful not to bother anyone just because they are sunbathing naked on the beach. Swinger intercourses on the beaches do exist, they are a real fact, but they are not as widespread as in other places. The Dunes of Corralejo are not the Dunes of Maspalomas. And remember something basic: PRIVACY. Enough privacy so as not to bother others.

8) Are there swinger clubs or bars on the island?

No. Not at all like those swinger clubs that there are in the south of Gran Canaria. Even if you have read in this forum that this bar is a swinger bar or that one is a swinger meeting point, it is simply something circumstantial. Possibly chosen at random.

9) Any recommendations for bars and restaurants?

This is very personal. There are many and some are very good ones but it depends on each person's taste and experience.

10) How do I plan or set a date or a meeting?

This is where this website and its famous "Who's near" come in. I think it's the best way to find out who's near you, check out their profiles and meet them up. It works really well.

Another way is through the forum. Many people post their visits in advance as an advertisement to arrange any date or meeting before arriving on the island. It really works.

Casual encounters exist but it's not the norm. There are options but there are also many desperate lonely voyeurs hanging around certain areas. Meerkats are a plague.... lol. If you like this... go ahead.

Finally, I want to point out that this is just my opinion. It's neither the correct one nor the only one. It's mine and just mine. I write this words mainly because I've read many things about the island that are not true from my point of view. And, personally, it bothers me when they try to confuse those who come to the island to enjoy a few days of their Holidays.

I hope these comments and remmarks have been useful and helpful. Any question is debatable and you can ask me personally about any question, tip or advice through private message. I'll be happy to help you. Likewise, I can give you advice and recommendations about Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.

All the best.
