We Have just booked to stay in the Olivia Beach Hotel in Corralejo for two weeks in April but we have been told by friends that the hotel has closed does anyone have any information if this is so we have tried to contact the hotel but we have had no response from them.

I'm booked to go in May. I have the RIU app , and it's allowing booking to Oliva Beach.

What makes your friends think its closed ? And how did you try contacting the hotel? By phone would give you an instant answer. Email may take time to be answered.

The situation is confusing. In May of last year the Riu Oliva Beach was granted approval for major refurbishment. Later in the year it was given a Presidential tourism award, and early this year the Canarian government issued an order that it should be demolished to allow restoration of the natural coastline. The Riu chain have said they will fight this order in the courts. So, as far as we are aware, the hotel is still open, and will be in April. It might be useful for you to contact the RIU chain directly, and failing that the Fuerteventura tourist office, for absolute confirmation.
