Hey there

Picking the brains of ideally regulars who frequent this hotel. I’ll add my questions first (for those who want the cusp) and then a bit of context after:

• What’s the difference between their Apartment and Premier Apartment?

• Has anyone stayed in both and have a recommendation?

• How is the WiFi coverage in the rooms? Is it fast, stable?

I ask this as I’m starting to draw out October plans and looking at private apartments vs hotels/apartments for this stay.

In the past, I heard PDS were successful during covid, having dropped their prices and upgraded their Internet, which made it desirable for stayers that had to work from home.

As my business relies on a WFH strategy, I do lean towards staying somewhere that first and foremost has a reliable, stable Internet with good connectivity. This also has to support high speeds for conferences and meetings, as well as remote connectivity so I can work on other people’s machines and also my home PC.

I do have my two mobile connections I take with me, but prefer them to be backup rather than the primary routes to the internet.

Lizzie also chills and watches TV, as we bring our firestick over loaded with Netflix, iPlayer and various UK channels.

Then as it’s a work from home once there, and October/November is typically our longer stay, it’s preferred to stay in something a bit modern with self catering facilities. As they also provide a bit more space so I can set up my office, and then just take the laptop, iPad and Power Bank to sit by the pool.

If you’ve read all this with the context, then it would be great to hear from people who:

• have stayed here, ideally more than once.

• have stayed here in both room offerings.

• fellow road warriors who take their work with them and share their WFH strategies when in PDI

Morning

The premium rooms have the bedroom facing the pool so not much difference, we always ask for the short side of the hotel as sometime you can here the yumbo, we was there a few weeks ago for gay pride and didn't hear much on short side

As for Internet it's good you can get it in room sunroof and around pool, we take our fire stick and in Jan in worked but we couldn't get it to work but took a tablet and I watched that with the firestick app while Lee went out watching the footy

We love playa del sol and going again in Sept which will be our third time this year

Hope this helps

Heya

Long time no speak.

Thanks for the feedback. Great help and it’s good to know, especially as we know it’s your go to.

We’ve spoken to quite a few people now, so might just have to book, as it’s all been positive.

What’s the difference between the short side, and, I guess, the long side?

Do the standard rooms have a pool view, albeit not from the bedroom? A couple mentioned they were in standard and said all rooms were facing the pool. Not sure if that’s true or not.

Hiya

We have stayed the last two years in premium rooms on the top floors which are nearer the nude roof area & we re pretty sure all the rooms have balconies overlooking the pool but the standard apartments have bedrooms that back onto the Yumbo so they get more noise till the early hours so the premium rooms are definitely worth the extra & being an adults only hotel means anything goes otherwise we found our stay at PDS great !

Me and my x stayed there a few years back . I wouldn’t recommend the playa del sol its a dump.im not sure if its been upgraded since then but from the outside i dont think so.we didn’t have a premier room tbf . The Wi-Fi was non existent and only got it at reception. Again, not sure if this is upgraded .

The room we got was horrendous and they didn’t give a damn . It stunk. It was in really poor condition. Room 420 steer clear lol. This is the experience we had at the time . (4) years ago now tho. I would email them directly to find out re Wi-Fi etc first before booking but there’s plenty other hotels around with full Wi-Fi and in far better condition and around the same price. Hope I haven’t put a dampener on your holiday .

Hope your both well

Yes the bedroom is facing the pool so less noice, we always stay standard room and short side you don't hear like you do on the side facing yumbo, we have stayed in premier room and if its at a good price would do again

Big thing for us is the sunroof the beds are great up there which is good for me as I've got a dodgy hip

Cya both soon x

Not at all. We’ve stayed a few times in PDI, so familiar with the surroundings and do like to try different accommodation from time to time.

All feedback is good feedback and sorry to hear of your experience. It does sound like you visited pre-covid and I believe during the pandemic they put some improvements in place. So hopefully your experience will not be repeated.

If we do book there, we’ll be sure to stay away from that room. Ironically, we’re not 420 friendly.

Get your ice cubes at the ready.

I have stayed in most hotels in pdi and that hotel still gives me the heebie jeebies lol.

Oh it wont be repeated thats for sure lol. Staff were so ignorant too when we complained to no avail. Hahaha didn’t realise about the 420 thing. Only good thing about the hotel is its locality. Very handy for the clubs ,walking distance . ….

Enjoy your holiday .

That’s a bold statement to say you have stayed in most hotels in PDI….there must be hundreds :-. Last year we stayed in 502 at the end of the long side. Nice modern room and good view of the pool. WI-FI was good and noise from the Yumbo wasn’t an issue as the bedroom is on the pool side. We are going back again this July

There is in excess of 400 hotels and apartments in PDI. Even if you have been going 4 times a year every year since you were 18 and never stayed in the same hotel twice you would have stayed in 136 different hotels

Lol that’s my point you haven’t stayed in most hotels in PDI. So how many have you stayed in?

If your a fantasist or someone who exaggerates things in their life I feel sorry for you.

A quick Google search told me how many hotels are in the PDI area

Perhaps what he meant was he has stayed in most of the hotels popular with Swingers? Of course there are hundreds but the same names come up time and again, usually due to their proximity to Clubs, or Dunes. I think most people knew what he meant and to be honest, smart arse replies and persisting with your 'point', don't really give a good impression to others. Just our opinion of course
