Hi Folks, for the times when we're all shagged out and want a bit of vanilla holiday loveliness, anyone got any recommendations..?

Beauty spots, lovely views, mountain top bars for sunsets, that sort of thing. If only for the odd photo to show our vanilla friends when we get home that we've been on a "normal" holiday

All around the North and West coast is rugged and beautiful.

Roque Nublo is a nice place to go for sunset, take a torch if you are going to walk back from the rock after sunset.

We love just taking random roads and there are beautiful views all over the island

If you don't have a car go to Maspalomas beach for the sunset. You'll get amazing pictures when the sun goes down behind Faro de Maspalomas. Colours are so beautiful. To be appreciated with a bottle of bubbles . Enjoy!

Nice suggestions for the list there, thank-you We will have a car so definitely thinking of heading uphill and see what we can find up there and the North sounds like a good place to visit. Quite green by the looks of pics we've seen

Cambridgeshire

Take some warmer clothes - it can be quite a bit less hot at the top, especially if the mist comes down.

I did a boat trip and a jeep ride into the mountains. Both were nice days out. The mountain trip stopped in a quaint little village and a viewpoint among other things

“Mar de nubes” (clouds sea), excellent views from high mountains: Tejeda & Artenara (Roque Nublo). Excellent place for hiking too. You can have a typical food in Barranco de Guayadeque caves (I recommend you “El Centro).

Playa de Tufia coast (a fishermen’s town with white houses) in Telde, near airport.

You can also visit Vegueta, in Las Palmas city. Nice place (old houses), if you were interested for the history: Museo Canario (most important aborigen collection) and Museo Colon (Cristopher Colombus’s house before leave to America).

If you travel with kids, “Poema del Mar” aquarium could be an option. Also you can spend a day enjoying “Aqualand” pool park or “Angry bird” park in Puerto Rico.

Telde and Agaete coast are the best places for eating seafood and fish.

If you wanted a boat trip or submarine you need visit Mogan port, a lovely place (no doubt).

You can find an open sky market in Teror, only on Sunday. You can buy typical desserts or handmade crafts.

We recommend hiring a car for a few days and go exploring. We've found some beautiful places off the beaten track and away from the crowds.

We'd recommend the mountains as the views are breathtaking. Also the west coast road takes you through some stunning view points.

The port of Mogan is pretty but can be busy as attracts many.

The safari jeep tour is brilliant, takes you to places you can't go in the car.

The small catamaran party trip is good fun as well if you enjoy jumping into the sea off a boat. Guy is entertaining and makes sure you have a laugh. Also good to see the coastline from the sea and dolphins.

Enjoy xxx

Blois, France

We went to the botanical gardens near Las Palmas (jardin botanico canario), its excellent and free. Only problem is there's no shop or restaurant so best to take a bottle of water.

Exposed in the sun noted that its colder in the north - they were right, glad we took their advice and packed a jumper.

The roads can be a bit hairy though ….. lots of hairpins and places where only one car can pass …..

If your PDI based the public transport across that whole stretch of coast is fantastic. We regularly hop on a bus ( in reality they’re coaches and spotlessly clean) and just explore. It helps R speaks fluent Spanish but it’s great getting out and about amongst the locals.

We can recommend hopping on and going to Puerto Morgan. It’s a lovely harbour town. Along the way there are various places like Amadores beach where you can hop off to spend an hour or 2. That fills a lovely day meandering along the coast to Morgan and back again.
