Spending winter in Gran Canaria?

Having spent a month this year in GC, we're giving serious consideration to how we might spend longer, ie the whole of winter here.

We understand that you can spend 3 months without a visa but can extend to 6 months (6 might be a bit too long)

Does anyone here do this, any advice etc?

With a UK Passport, you can only spend a maximum 90 days, in a rolling 180 day period, so if you stay for 90 days, you then have to leave for 90 days before you can return again. That's why UK passports are now treated differently to EU passports when entering GC, as they track the number of days.

Guess we're lucky then

We're more interested in where people stay for longer term stays. ie Hotel, apartments, short term rentals etc.

What's a cost effective way to spend 3 months at a time in GC?

We had a month in an Airbnb apartment in April, you would need to book well in advance as the ones we were interested (what we classed as the decent ones) had bookings in the middle of period we were there, regretted leaving it so long. The majority offer a discount for month booking. We shopped in San Fernando supermarkets as prices cheaper than in the resort. Also cheaper to eat out as not in the tourist area.

Hope this is helpful xxx
