I think the local council are really silly, not to have the beds and kiosks, surly they are loosing a lot of money, i know they are owed over a million euros, but a lot of people have said no beds or kiosks no go, yes you can still take your drinks, sand sheet, towel etc, but its nice to be on a bed with the sand walls up and get roasting , and a little play of course , im there in a weeks time again, was there early Dec, said i wouldnt go again till they had the beds, BUT cant keep away from this lovely place, and wanting a little fun, so any mf/f/m free let me know , cheers martin x

We got talking about it with one of the locals, most of you probably know him from fun4all or k4

It's not the government, nobody is willing to pay for the franchise due to the current threat of lockdowns and restrictions.

Sad really we love the beaches and hanging out at the kiosks meet some really nice people to chat to there ....i have complained to the tourist board but i think it may take a lot more complaining to get it sorted ,just have to book a place with a pool .... I'd say the restaurants are suffering to....isnt greed and being stubborn the downfall of many...see you all in march hidihi.x

"how do i get from pdi to San Augustin. x "

Walk along the promenade, from recollection it’s about 40 mins with plenty of places to stop for refreshments.

Hire a bike.

Take a bus (plenty of buses, and only 10 minute ride.

Take a taxi, around 4€

Google is your friend for this and many of life’s other questions

Hopefully when the sunbeds return? I don't know if the issue of unpaid taxes was regarding just the kiosks, or if it was around everything, sunbeds included.

Sunbeds and umbrellas return to Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Meloneras and El Cochino after two years without this service on the beaches of the municipality most in demand by tourists and users. The mayor of Coastal Care, Samuel Henríquez, reports that this Monday he commissioned Perfaler, the company that managed this service until the start of the covid pandemic, until March 2020, to resume activity from next Monday 7 February.

We were in Tenerife recently and didn't use sunbeds (they were there to hire). You can buy a parasol in the shops for about €8-10, much cheaper than paying each day to rent one. I understand that the sunbeds are now being restored but honestly don't understand why it's such a deal breaker to not have any.

We always just buy a parasol and take to the beach. Not into laying in lines with others . It does get very windy at times so I understand that the beds give some protection against sandblasting!

I don't think the flights and accommodation and beach thingies are the same organisation. I doubt Jet2 or Mama n Papa Pensión Hotel have much influence over the local ayuntamiento.

About 100 sun beds and umbrellas have been installed with sand screens just to the left as you look out to

Unfortunately the kiosk hasn't opened so there isn't the same atmosphere yet. Looks like things are slowly returning to normal.

Where is this kiosk 4/6? I'm at pdi now, and a lengthy walk through the dunes brought me to sunbeds and a pair of kiosks number 8 and 7. It seemed 95% Male and presumably is the gay end. Another walk east along the beach brought me to kiosk 5, near the flagpole, then kiosk 4 near a lifeguard kiosk. Not far from town at that point.
