One week ago people returning from uk only needed a lateral flow test on day 2 of return ... £20

Now they need a test 2 days before return £20 , pcr 2 days after return £50 .

And Scottish government pushing for a day 8 return test £50 .

Not stingy by any means but where does it end.

Feel sorry for families with maybe 4 or 5 people

In Lanzarote in Sept they done it in the hotel, went done the test went to bar, text in about an hour went to reception for certificate then to bar then to pool

We're on our way back to Spain on Monday, via France, and the French just introduced a testing requirement to enter even if vaccinated. Announced Weds/Thurs and came into effect today!

I had ordered my £20 test nice and early like the government said to do next day all changed, so £20 in the bin and £39 for PCR just hoping things don’t change before 14th dec as want to show my girlfriend the dunes wink wink

There’s a clinic at Hospiten Roca. 5 min taxi ride from PDI centre. Tests are bookable via their app . Took us 10 mins last to book for the 11th.

Been to PDI twice this year and both times had to have a test before I returned home and another after arriving home. It’s a bit of a hassle but not enough to stop me going. It’s a lot easier than some think and worth it for a great holiday. Only lateral flow required before you return home and you can buy one here in the U.K. and take it with you.

You do still also need a day 2 PCR test in the UK on your return.

I asked this last time i was abroad in September, basically is you test positive the authority's put you into isolation, where i don't know. But i did check with my insurance company would i becocovered for reparatriation

Yes friends of mine did while staying at Playa del Sol hotel, and although it was full the authorities ordered the hotel to put them up for 10 days, they were quarantined in their room and they had to phone hotel receptionist all their requirements and left outside their room

If you buy it in the UK and take it with you, how can you get the test result certified before you return? I believed you had to have proof that the test was taken within 48hrs of your return flight, so if you bought one in the UK and took it with you, how can you do that?

There is a testing facility at the Las Palmas airport. They are called Eurofins. They do PCR and antigen tests.

€29.17 for an antigen test with results in 20 - 30 minutes.

You can make an appointment online and pay by card at the desk. Whilst you can make an appointment at the desk you will be put behind people with prebooked appointments.

You will find them right at the end of the buildings opposite check in desks 125/126.

Prices were €40 for antigen and €140 for PCR.

It was a holiday on Monday so all the labs were closed. There is another holiday on Wednesday 8 December 2021 so expect labs to be closed then as well.

To travel back to the UK:

"The test must meet performance standards of =97% specificity, =80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.

This could include tests such as:

a nucleic acid test, including a PCR test

a LAMP test

an antigen test, such as an LFD (lateral flow device) test" -Gov.UK

This antigen test cost me €29.17.

We’ve used eurofin at Alicante Airport for return antigen test, also pre booked online….not problems at all, just need to arrive for your flight earlier

You need to make an appointment at San Roque they do all the appointment first then the walk-ins

If you are staying in an hotel they have qr code to scan to make the appointment using that and it's €10 unless they changed it

You need to make an appointment at San Roque they do all the appointment first then the walk-ins

If you are staying in an hotel they have qr code to scan to make the appointment using that and it's €10 unless they changed it"

If you don't book an appointment you will never get in. Some people stood for more than 2 hours and had an appointment.

I got a day 2 test from boots.com before gov changed it to pcr thought I could take it with me but boots said it’s codes are now void and can’t be used also can’t be used out side of uk. Big sign on site saying orders outside of uk will be cancelled uk only. Be careful or you may buy twice. Flying out Tuesday unless they add pcr to fly out then will be screwed as will have no time to post

The advisory health bodies have long been saying that we need to focus on hospitalisations and not number of infections.

Reports coming out of South Africa indicate that Omicron is a mild variation and that most of the people who tested positive only sought medical advice because they had something else as well.

Right now we have a situation where a person tests negative, gets on a flight with other people who tested negative and then needs to test at the other end of the flight to see if they contracted Covid-19 from the other negative passengers.

This all well and good except that the testing centers in the UK have now been overwhelmed and are taking days to process the tests.

If we are going to impose travel restrictions for a virus that has the same symptoms as the common cold are we going to impose restrictions for the common cold too?

I am very pro restrictions and vaccinations etc. but am struggling to believe that this is still about fighting a virus.

Well i am back in uk .. did send pcr test to lab .. but anyone of my friends who knows who is covid negative could do that test for me .. it is all bit of bull shit .. i dont break uk low .but all this just dont make any sense to me ..

Day 2 pcr test result when you back in uk can be sorted more faster if you use drop box .. result same day .. didnt know about it ..so 2nd day selfisoted at home still didnt get result back .. fcking crazy ..

I think Scotland will fall in line with English regulations as they have previously as it doesn't make sense to have varying entry requirements.

Hope it happens before I fly on the 3rd February.
