Apologies if this has previously been covered - is there a simple checklist of actions to be taken before and whilst in holiday to meet COVID regs?

We leave in October and I’m getting increasingly worried about the sequencing of the steps to be taken !

2 days before you fly home, you need a negative test result. You can go to any walk in clinic and they will do it. Take your passports. 20 mins later you have your results.

Both paper copies and digital. Paper is easier because you can just show them straight off the plane and you don't have to fanny about with your phone on the spot.

Returning to the UK

Passenger locator form completed within 48hrs of departure.

Negative test within 72 hours of departure back to the UK. Can be LFT

PCR test on day 2 of returning

If not vaccinated need Day 8 PCR.

You can take LFT with you and do yourself. I just ordered mine for travel at the weekend £68 for LFT and PCR tests.

PM for more detail

Fylde Coast.

We showed all our documents on our phone, downloaded them all to pdf and put them in one folder/app…we used acrobat reader. It was straightforward, just remember to make sure your phone is charged!!

Have a paper copies AND copies on your phones. It's easier to show a paper copy when you are stood in front of people who are chomping at the bit to get out of the airport, trying to open your phone, let it adjust to Spain settings with all the messages etc. Can be stressful. If you have paper copies as well, you can whip them out, show them to the people who want to see them and be on your way.

How do you get proof of recovery from Covid?? We've had both jabs but the NHS say that the virus stays in your system for up to 90 days and any testing within that period will show up positive. That means any test prior to returning home might prove a bit problematic or does this proof of recovery cover a positive test result??

From what I've quickly searched I gather that a positive COVID-19 test 180 days before travel shows you have had COVID-19 and recovered.

Your proof of double jab is enough to get tou out there. Fill in the passenger locator form for Spain.

For the trip back, yes you need a LFT (-ve proof) but tou also need the confirmation code for your PCR test that you have booked for day 2 of your return.

That caught us out the first time but booked over the net at the airport.

Booked in advance the last time I went and you put the code in your UK locator form for the return home.

As a side note, I never activated or used the test...ì am tested at work everyday...and there was no comeback.

Going to use the same code on next trip out in few weeks.

So from what I have gathered, you are part of the EU still, so you need a negative test to return to Ireland but an antigen is NOT a valid test. That's all I can gleem from the information online.

Are you saying you can use own LFT to do prior to returning to the UK. If so this is wrong, you have to have an antigen test at recognised place in GC who email results. There's a small cost but it's quick and easy. We booked ours at the San Roque Hospital to play it safe. Recommend as very well organised.

We did san roque but you CAN buy a LFT test in the UK and do it yourself then you take a photo of the strip and send it to the company and they send you a certificate.

Its absolutely incredible that this is allowed and makes the whole thing a farce.

We had our own nhs lft tests and tested twice during the week as we normally would at home ... if an unscrupulous person did this would they really do the "return to uk" lft or would they fake it ?

are you sure ?

read this from the Irish Govt Website

If I arrive into Ireland from the EU or EEA

This information includes arrivals from the EEA (the EU plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), Andorra, Monaco, the Holy See, San Marino and Switzerland.

If you arrive into Ireland with an EU Digital COVID Certificate, you do not need to do any further testing or quarantine.

Some exceptions apply:

If your DCC is based on an antigen test, you must have a RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before your arrival

If you have been in a non-EEA country in the 14 days before arriving in Ireland, you must follow the rules set out in ‘If I arrive into Ireland from outside the EU or EEA’ below.

If your DCC is based on a vaccine that is not approved by the EMA, you must have a RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before your arrival and self-quarantine for 14 days. If you are arriving from a designated country, you must pre-book accommodation in a quarantine hotel, (see ‘What does fully vaccinated mean?’ above).
