Spain has extended the travel block of flights from the UK until the end of March. Who knows after that?

The numbers here are getting lower every week and with the vaccine as well it's going the right way.

Be nice to have an end goal date though. Something to aim for.

Yes, I saw this too. I think they are trying to work out how it will work in other countries first then go from there BUT again it's a step in the right direction and we can all hope and pray for an end date.

I know some countries have came out and said they have been working with the Uk. But so has the islands as well

Appreciate that but until the vaccination rate changes massively I think most people are going to stay safe. We have a place in Majorca and are desperate to go but at the moment they have only vaccinated just over 2% of the population ??

WE have had four trips in the last year cancelled to Gran Canaria and our next one on the 4th of May will not happen either so it looks like next October (for us Irish) before we are back at Venus Star or La Mirage

Sorry to say guys it’s going to be too early in May. The islands government have said nothing will be ready till the middle of May. Sadly for you guys!

We had our pdi holiday cancelled last year and moved to May this year. We fly on 17th May, will the clubs be open? Bars?

Some bars are currently open, subject to restrictions, same as a couple of the clubs. The curfew at the moment over Easter, I believe is 10pm, but that changes, sometimes weekly. As to what it will be like in 8 weeks time, we can't possibly know.

First thing is for the UK authorities to let people travel (which won't be before 17th May, and could well be later), and for the Spanish/GC authorities to allow tourists in.

After that it is going to be personal decisions about whether to travel at all, and if they do travel, what they do/don't do on holiday.

Expanding the vaccination rate is key to build confidence and to keep the covid rates down, but for us the covid rates themselves are a more relevant factor.

Once fully vaccinated, individuals are very unlikely to be seriously ill themselves, but we don't know if they can still pass on the virus. So acting sensibly is vital whether on holiday or in the UK.

We've got a week in Venus booked for early June. It is far too soon to decide whether we will be able to go or not. If we do go, we are unlikely to be in the clubs. But a week on a sunbed, and in open air bars/restaurants is probably less risky for everyone than being inside in the UK.

With the R rate at 0.6-0.8 currently, it's inevitable that this rate will increase as people start to mix again. As more of the vulnerable are protected via the immunisation programme then even if the R rate increases above 1 it won't in theory put as much pressure on the NHS so we won't be lock up as easy as we have done before ??

Probably yes, the problem is though if our infection rates start to rise significantly other countries may not let us fly their, even though infections have fallen drastically since the start of the year we still have higher infection rates than most if Europe

If we aren't allowed to travel to GC because either UK or Spain authorities prohibit it, then no one has a decision to make,

if we are allowed, then everyone has to decide what is right for them.

Hopefully in May we get to make the choice, but that may cause refund problems for those who choose not to go.

From a selfish viewpoint, if we are vaccinated, then the risk to us is much reduced. Then, would us travelling expose others to increased risk? If not, then going would probably be good for everyone

Hotel reserved and will just book flights when we know what we are allowed to do... accept it will be very quiet but can’t beat a bit of sun and relaxation... if anyone else is planning on going let us know xxx

Changed our booking from mainland Spain on the 17th May to gran canaria as seems TUI are still flying there so fingers crossed 2 weeks of sun and fun.

We already worked on having to quarantine when back in UK so just hope it still happens and nothing changes in the next week.
