"Just a view but I think that to have any chance of travelling to Europe this year you will have needed to have had both vaccination jabs the second being three weeks before you go." So it gets cancelled. However, if as the tourism minister for Spain is saying, people will be allowed without the vaccine providing they have a clear PCR test, I think I'll stick with his view for the moment, assuming your not also the Spanish Minister for Tourism?

"BBC news channel..Boris giving speech..International travel to be reviewed, but will not resume before 17th May.." I'm hoping as he said 'international travel will not return for all before May 17th,' that the fact that we are already in discussions with several countries about air corridors, that we may have different news from the Aviation group on April 12th. I'm being optimistic.

"There are more important things then 2 weeks in SPAIN !!!!! Think of the Big picture and what has happened to the whole world" Yes there are, but some people still want to go on holiday, when it's considered safe to do so.

"There are more important things then 2 weeks in SPAIN !!!!! Think of the Big picture and what has happened to the whole world" Some of us have been constantly travelling internationally for work for the last year, test, fly, test, fly. Just because you're in Scotland, don't get angry with us for having different rules. If they say it's safe to fly, I'm having a couple of weeks off in the sunshine.

"Various government officials have hinted that international travel may return on 17th May. As someone who has covid antibodies and has received the covid jab. I'm thinking of rebooking my previously cancelled holiday for 17th May if allowed to do so. Any others still have a holiday booked or plan on booking for May? " I have just read this morning that the powers to be are trying for the 17 May to open the airways but I am certain that not only the operators but clients too will exercise great care not only just for themselves but others too, Life has to go on?

"It’s all well and good other countries accepting brits to come on holiday but will you still have to quarantine in a hotel on return from these high risk places. I’m not going to book anything untill it’s much clearer." Not everywhere is high risk and we wouldn’t go to one that is! No harm looking forward to getting away to the sun again though

"Just heard on radio LBC that spain is to adopt the digital vaccine certificate along with a lot of european contries and will welcome tourists back. Didn t catch full report but looking good from their end ?" It’s what Spain wanted to do. So it’s not saying you must of had the vaccine. Spain and Greece have been going on about having some kind of passport. It’s called the digital green certificate. What it means is. They want to see if you have had the vaccine or you have had COVID and recovered from it. Or had a PCR test in the past 72 hours. This looks like how they are going to restart tourism. Now the plan was to have it in from mid May. Now that’s still the plan. But reading inbetween the lines from this morning. It’s not looking like they will have it up and running by then. It’s more likely the 21st of June. Now why that date has been picked I don’t know. But I’m sure it’s not for no reason..... Do remember it’s not just the EU in talks with each other. They have been saying all along “talks with international partners”

Personally though I don’t think anyone in the UK will be going on holiday from 21st June, September at earliest seems more likely.

"Reading everything and taking a real close look at everything. I can’t see it being past august the 1st and that is worst case. That’s my view " Definitely hope so but now that we seem to have a reasonable level of control here at the moment the biggest risk is going to be variants. I think the UK government will want to wait until the school holidays are finished here so that travel is at a more reasonable level - and most of those travelling are likely to be older and vaccinated! For the Canariesit could very much depend on who is allowed to travel there, if travellers are allowed in from mainland Europe where Covid levels are much higher it could put an end to this year’s tourism completely

Previously masks were mandatory when going to the beach, and walking along the beach. Now they are mandatory when you are sunbathing regardless of distancing, except when swimming, not paddling, in the water. The same applies at complex pools. https://www.canarianweekly.com/posts/face-masks-beaches-pools-bars-stage?fbclid=IwAR2M_3afbZEVIwb6CGBPUX7VgxYXkVYv_LmDWs7x-iIyVSL-scsykKNJZSc

"Thanks for that link - it has some useful information - in particular an update to the main story, which confirms what "locals" have already posted on here. Specifically, that the Canaries are able to over-ride the mask rule in regards to beaches - and that they have done so! " The moment you are off the walkway at Maspalomas Lighthouse you can remove your mask and the police will drive past you without batting an eyelid.
