"As some one who is brought up in London. I really want a bit of change and want to be able to at least able to be in warmer place through out the Christmas Any recommendation of which part Spain peopleo could recommend I don't know if I want to move there permanently or temporary But ideally a little place in heaven could be the best way to describe it " Canary Islands. Enjoy warmth and sunshine all year round.

"The south of Spain, Costa Del Sol would be my recommendation. This time of year the weather is better than the rest of Spain. The Sierra Blanca mountains keep off the rain and you get the sea cooling breeze in summer. Plus Malaga airport is very popular during normal times so easy access. That’s my penny’s worth if it helps" Just dont get tempted by the cheaper houses in the mountains it is not warm in the winter stick to the coast.

That is very true and it's not just because it's colder up there in the winter. In the summer months it can be as much as 10 degrees hotter just a few kms inland from the coast. Also living in a predominantly Spanish community is not as easy as some people think. Without a decent command of the language it can be very difficult for expats. We know quite a few who have tried and made a very expensive mistake. Another thing to take into account is local infrastructure (and I don't just mean distance to the pool) Check out things like distance to the nearest hospital. When you are sat in your villa with chest pains is not the time to find out that the nearest one is an hour away down a winding mountain road (and it can be) Lastly the best advice I can give to anyone is to rent before you buy. Take a place for 6 or 12 months and if you don't like the area then you can move on. Walking away from a rental is much easier than trying to sell up.

Similar points apply also to France I guess- other than the heat.
