"Hi all, thinking of buying in the region, have family in Altea and lived there many years ago but prices seem a lot cheaper south of Alicante. Any advice on where is good to buy, holiday home for now but will settle there in a couple of years x" This is what I wrote on another similar thread recently. "We prefer Playa Flamenca and La Florida. There is a bit more going on in the quieter months and in the summer it's the same busy as everywhere else. It also has a small nudist beach. Cabo Roig is good in the summer but can be dead in the winter. Quite a few places on the strip close out of season, while PF and especially La Florida (The Abbey and Waldemars being two of the most popular) are mostly up and running 52 weeks of the year Torrevieja itself is a bit Marmite. You will either love it or hate it. Further north. Guardamar is a bit more Spanish and again can be very quiet in the winter. The La Marina urbanisation probably has more swingers than any other part of the area (you know who you are LOL) and is very convenient for the nudist beach, but again can be a bit quiet out of season. Ditto Gran Alacant. Best advice would be to either visit the area a few times (and at different times of the year) or (if you can) rent a place for a few months and get a feel for which bit of the area you prefer. It's much easier to get out of a rental than trying to sell up if you make a mistake." | |||

From a Fab point of view south of Alicante wins hands down. We know lots of international visitors who come and go to their holiday homes, all pre Covid of course. | |||

Do you have details We would love to check it out " The only one we know of is Secretos Liberal at Santomera (between Murcia city and Orihuela) We've only been the one time and we had a decent afternoon in there. Only problem (for us) is that it is a much longer drive than to other clubs, so we haven't given it the chance it maybe deserves. | |||

"Depends on whether you want an expat situation or more Spanish? " Main priority is somewhere safe. Not too far from seaside with some other expats. | |||

For that we would recommend the Orihuela Costa area, just to the south of Torrevieja. Lots going on for most of the year, very international community, good beaches (including naturist) and property prices still reasonable. Look for place names such as Playa Flamenca, La Florida, La Zenia, Los Altos, among others. | |||

"We recently moved to Guardamar Del Segura which is 10Km's north of Torrevija - it is on the coast, it has fantastic beaches (including a fantastic naturist beach close by), restaurants and bars. It is an mixture of Spaniards, Brits, Germans, Scandinavians and others. The town itself is quite Spanish and has every type of shop that you might require and all of the nationalities all get along very well. " Thats brilliant,Thank you so much. | |||

"Depends on whether you want an expat situation or more Spanish? Main priority is somewhere safe. Not too far from seaside with some other expats. For that we would recommend the Orihuela Costa area, just to the south of Torrevieja. Lots going on for most of the year, very international community, good beaches (including naturist) and property prices still reasonable. Look for place names such as Playa Flamenca, La Florida, La Zenia, Los Altos, among others." Thanks guys. | |||

In our area (Playa Flamenca/La Florida) nearly all are. As stated above, Besos club (Guardamar) is now open from 4.00 until 9.00 pm. Wednesdays to Sundays. The only difficulty will be getting into Spain in the first place. Once here it may be a bit quiet but it's not dead. | |||

"Just by way of update the Besos club in Guardamar has updated it opening times - please check their website for revised and extended times. We were there last Saturday night and it was probably the busiest night that they have had since reopening" Good to hear.
