The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has just announced that the incidence rate of Covid-19 in the islands has dropped below 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the last seven days as of today.

This is an important factor in the reactivation of tourism in the islands, as among other reasons, it is the indicator that Germany uses to define the areas with an epidemiological risk index, for which they added the Canary Islands to the list of risk areas for Covid-19 on September 2nd for exceeding that figure.

Normandy France

We heard from 2 German Tui reps that the Germans are on schedule to start flying again from Tuesday. We have actually noticed quite a few more German speaking people walking past the apartment at the beach. Actually we were pleasantly surprised to see the restaurants and bars along the strip in front of the Costa Meloneras hotel very busy on Saturday night, probably mostly Spanish but nice to 'people'

Well we are now at Gatwick. Won't breathe out until we've touched down in LPA. We've had 3 flight cancellations but determined to be there. Fingers crossed!

Poplar

Currently looking at the German Federal Foreign Office Information of international areas of risk.

As of 2nd October 5:30pm 2020.

Spain - all of Spain including Canary Islands (since 2nd September)

I think they update their list every Friday.

My understanding is thet need the level below 50 and to sustain that. I'm really hoping the Danes and the Swedes are there...
