Gran canaria regardless????

I am due to fly on 2nd oct for 17 nights. Easy jet have cancelled my flight. There is always Ryanair. Is anyone still going in October regardless of quarantine and the risk of lockdown again?

We were booked to fly out on 30th Sept with BA for 10 nights, but they cancelled the flight, so we re-booked with Easy Jet. Hope they are not going to cancel too

We still want to go as quarantining on return is OK for us and we won't mind if its quiet out there as we will just be grateful to get away.

Sad news from our favourite island.

We still have flights on 8th with Tui and Gold booked and paid.

Chances are Gold will close and whilst we’ll get hotel refund we’ll lose the flights.

Sounds ideal to me, we live in Cornwall and with majority, that's local and visitors to county, they behave like the virus has gone. We visited Yorkshire to see family recently and we encountered the same attitude in the popular tourist spots. GC sounds a lot safer to me and it would be lovely to get away and catch up with our friends who live out there and support the economy. Only problem is hubby doesn't want to wear a mask all the time

Flights 9.99 by Ryan air,a hotels are still open with half capacity in most,I'm told..bookin . com still selling too..a bargain could be had here

My hotel is still open. My Ryanair flights are still going......at the moment. Bars are open, even if it is reduced hours. Beach is still there and the weather is good. Take my holidays here or there.....no brainer

Sparkles definitely not open and video from Andi Martine advised that they probably won’t open until after Xmas

They spent a fortune on making the bar COVID secure and got closed down on second night by local police

Ive not long got back from Venus Star and wish I could of stayed longer. Airports in both countires were quick and easy flights took off early flight times reduced so landed early.

Some shops and resturants were open and again with it being quiet the service was great. Felt safer there than going shopping to Tescos

Have a great time to everybody that's going...wish we were!! Been going for the last six years but decided to cancel a few days ago and go for Cyprus instead (no quarantine on return to UK). Was surprised how easy it was to change Ryanair flights. Hopefully will be back again next year!!

Our friend said it's quiet due to no visitors and some bars open. I hope that the plan for the winter are positive and the island will be opening up again so more airlines fly out there and package holidays are not cancelled.

I know this situation is starting to take it's toll on people.

When we eventually get there we'll be sure to find your bar and say hello xxx

We went to the Kasbah last night and yes it's nearly All closed. The Irish pub was open (with just 2 people in it ) and 3 or 4 trinket shops are open and begging us to look.... people they need us now or they will be closed forever...

After much trepidation regarding flights, heat checks, etc etc. Discovered that there was nothing to worry about. The flight was like business class. Left half an hour early. No queues, no worrying about overhead luggage space. Everyone was respectful and kept their masks on the entire flight.

The local airport staff were friendly and polite and we hardly slowed down through the arrivals process. Looks like quite a few swingers on the island...

They sited government restrictions which is BS as it is the only flight that has been cancelled. Unable to rebook at a different time due to work commitments.

Try easyJet. I'm not a fan of

easyJet but they were brilliant. Don't know how they are making money but they are flying practically empty.

Maclennans is expecting about 40 people on Thursday which is going to be a blast. Had an amazing evening there before heading out to Imagine. Not the "usual" PDI routine but that's good in a way. It's far more intimate

We are abroad at the moment . The flight out was not a good experience for anyone who has a condition or who is old and therefore at more risk. We have no conditions so that’s why we decided to go away for some sun .It was a bigger plane (767) and it was prob 80% full so perhaps 200 people on board . The first problem was boarding . There is no way 200 people can board a plane maintaining separation . Then when sat down you can have people in the next seat ie no separation. Then the drink and snack trolley came round and all pretence of ‘safe flying ‘ went out of the window because you can take your mask off to eat and drink . So before the drinks trolley came round the Steward was admonishing people for having their masks slightly below their nose then a few minutes later they could take their mask off for the rest of the flight ! One woman took her mask off to sip her glass of wine and was sipping it for at least 90 mins and it was obviously a deliberate ploy to not wear a mask. Whether masks make any difference is a debate but if you believe they do and you are at any risk my advice is forget flying anywhere at the moment .

I guess different people have different experiences. We were on an A320 with no more than 30 people on board. There were rows of empty seats and only 3 couples on the entire flight.

We have no conditions so that’s why we decided to go away for some sun .It was a bigger plane (767) and it was prob 80% full so perhaps 200 people on board . The first problem was boarding . There is no way 200 people can board a plane maintaining separation . Then when sat down you can have people in the next seat ie no separation. Then the drink and snack trolley came round and all pretence of ‘safe flying ‘ went out of the window because you can take your mask off to eat and drink . So before the drinks trolley came round the Steward was admonishing people for having their masks slightly below their nose then a few minutes later they could take their mask off for the rest of the flight ! One woman took her mask off to sip her glass of wine and was sipping it for at least 90 mins and it was obviously a deliberate ploy to not wear a mask. Whether masks make any difference is a debate but if you believe they do and you are at any risk my advice is forget flying anywhere at the moment .

I guess different people have different experiences. We were on an A320 with no more than 30 people on board. There were rows of empty seats and only 3 couples on the entire flight. "

We had same experience. Great flight with just 35 people, felt perfectly safe. Glad we've come. The weather is great and covid rates in Gran Canaria are a lot lower than where we live in the uk.

"After much trepidation regarding flights, heat checks, etc etc. Discovered that there was nothing to worry about. The flight was like business class. Left half an hour early. No queues, no worrying about overhead luggage space. Everyone was respectful and kept their masks on the entire flight.

The local airport staff were friendly and polite and we hardly slowed down through the arrivals process. Looks like quite a few swingers on the island...

Can't speak for a trip from the UK, but we flew into LPA last evening. The flight from Brussels to Madrid was great, felt like we owned Brussels airport and the plane was 10% full. In contrast, the flight from Madrid to LPA was literally full. We had filled in the required medical forms and expected to be checked at some point but walked out through LPA airport without any check at all. Playa del Ingles is very quiet, but there are enough bars and restaurants open. Yumbo is a bit of a ghost town.

"Ryanair cancelled our flight out to GC from Birmingham on the 21st.

They sited government restrictions which is BS as it is the only flight that has been cancelled. Unable to rebook at a different time due to work commitments.

Try easyJet. I'm not a fan of

easyJet but they were brilliant. Don't know how they are making money but they are flying practically empty.

Maclennans is expecting about 40 people on Thursday which is going to be a blast. Had an amazing evening there before heading out to Imagine. Not the "usual" PDI routine but that's good in a way. It's far more intimate "

A large group of friends have just got back from 2 weeks in GC and here is their feedback;

It was certainly a different holiday!!

The social distancing rules etc. were strictly adhered to and most people wore masks in the street. Everywhere was quiet and the Cita Center was dead.

A lot of bars in the Yumbo were closed but some restaurants were open, with a few customers. It really struck home how hard Covid-19 had hit the island.

The dunes are out of bounds. Wardens found us as soon as we arrived and directed us to the beach, along clearly marked wooden posts. While walking back from the beach to the Riu Palace, we were approached by a Police 4x4 who ordered us to put our masks on in public places. It then sped off in the direction of the hotel and up and over the very sand dunes that they claim to be protecting.

We all felt safer in GC than in London.

We are GC first timers, but I (stu) Previously lived in Tenerife for a number of years and yes for this time of year it is quite, but it’s no different to the off season over here (March to May). For us and others we have spoken to it’s a good thing, it’s the perfect adult holiday, people staying in non swinger hotels have the luxury of not getting up at the crack of dawn to get a sun bed, no kids running around screaming, no mother’s shouting “TIMMY DON’T DO THAT” it’s peaceful and relaxed in the daytime (that’s what holidays are for right?) and the evenings are fun with the right mix of people.

The COVID controls are spot on there’s no complaining everyone just does it as they know it’s the right thing to do keep them their families and others safe. The UK should take a leaf out of the Canaria government’s book we’d much better off... If we could stay out here we would much safer here.

Numbers are plummeting here. Only 110 new cases. Inside sources say we might see a lessening of restrictions on the weekend.... we'll see... even if it doesn't happen still a party.

It's your personal choice. Why would someone be abusive about that? We're having a great time but it was a lot of stress getting here. The clubs aren't open so it won't be everyone's cup of tea. I wish we could all be respectful. So sorry to hear

Over here the rate has officially dropped to 41.5 over a 14 day period. Bars are now open an extra hour (1:00am).

I was looking at GC for Xmas but I see Ryanair now have no flights going from Birmingham November or December are they all really fully booked. Anyone booked for Xmas on theses flights ?
