ALL INCLUSIVE NO MORE ??

All Inclusive hotels are changing in Spain and Canaries. No longer going to get the big help yourself buffets. It's going to be part or full waiter/ess service, and God knows how the bars are going to be working. Every other sunbed around the pool out of service. Let's see what happens??

All inclusive self service buffets have always been fraught with danger. Food gone cold, other people poked it around, sneezed and coughed over it. Tried it just the once. No thanks.

From a business point of view all inclusive hotels have been bad news for local businesses for a long while .

I know it appeals for a family on a budget nothing wrong from that perspective , hopefully now the much needed custom will get shared around , which will be gratefully received by all.

Hi.

The point is that the government has (for now) banned free buffets.

Food cannot be available to hotel / restaurant users, it must be served by waiters.

Same here , I like to go out and about and grab breakfast somewhere , hate being made to have it at certain times , if this is true it can only help other businesses that have suffered due to all inclusive hotels

Probably all served up like the carvery section of most all inclusives used to be and with stagered meal times.. no big deal

We don't like meal times either, we're never up for breakfast, we have that lunchtime and late dinner somewhere down the beach front

We rarely go AI and if we do we eat out most of the time but sometimes the flight and hotel deals are cheaper so it makes sense to take advantage of that price. We give the extra to the local businesses and eat out and visit bars as much as we can.

Now, I can't help this is a little judgemental. I'm a caterina fan for location, cleanliness, food and friendly staff. Not far from Kiosk 6 (was 4), nudist area if too windy for beach, not far from a hire car place to explore the island, not far to go to sample the night life or maybe a meal if we fancy a change (food is of good standard so rare).

Agree that this is judgemental.

The difference between my booking for 3 nights AI and B&B was £50. Not each but for the two of us.

We are going in just two weeks (10th) and there is a real possibility of many places not being open so taking the break for what it is, and drinks around the pool on one day would probably exceed the extra paid.

Last year we went to Gold B&B and went out to eat dinner in the local restaurants, and maybe we will venture out to one particular steak house that was incredible should we want to and the restaurant be open. During the day last year we bought snacks and bubbly from the Spar next door so hardly supported the local economy!

In regards to cleanliness and location, I searched based on star rating and feedback levels. The suitehotel scores as excellent.

If we do want to get up at 8, go to the gym, or for a walk or have an early breakfast then we can.

We book our hotel based on location, facilities, cleanliness and service rather than the people that stay in the room all day.

The thing with flight and hotel , is you dont really get a good choice on flight times etc, while if you go onto Skyscanner cheaper, have a look next time , cheers x

Stayed at Catarina ourselves. After refurbishment the food was a lot lot better. Not knocking anybody's choice of hotel. Only mentioned Catarina because know it's a favourite of people on this site. Probably will become even more popular due to state of exchange rates. Only posted information on All Inclusive because we thought some people may have the decision to regards self catering, half board or all inclusive? Have fun
