"I had a mental breakdown in 2013 and was subsequently diagnosed with PTSD. I have really deep days where I have thought “Fuck it” and have tried to end it all. Majority if this comes from an abusive childhood that only came to the surface quite recently. 7 years on from that breakdown I am now a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. I decided to go it on my own as my local primary health care team came up with the idea that to beat depression you need to join a gym and get out and socialise. Great if you can get out but what if like me the depression is so crippling you cannot get out of bed Thankfully I’m through the other side now. I still get days where I can’t be arsed with life but I now have the coping methods in place to get through " That's good to hear and great to know you can talk about it and help others.x

"Does anyone need someone to talk to we can all act it and be happy especially when sex I'd involved but is there women and men out there experiencing down times so look to the other to fill that gap same for couples eto " Sex is very much a happy pill, it gives you lot sof positive endorphins and having someone pay you compliments and boosting your ego is all good for the mental health, but it's a short quick fix, it can be for some like alcohol or drugs, it can become addictive and take over folks lives to the point where they can and do sometimes end up stuck in a vicious and abusive cycle. Constantly checking in looking for messages and fabs on pics etc but it's the same on any other social media platform, however some folk with major low self esteem or particularly poor mental health can then start to partake in dangerous behaviour and put themselves in risky situations. Promiscuity is listed as key symptom of mental health disorders particularly where individuals have little or no emotional support. I suffer from mental health problems have done for years and quite open about it, when I'm particularly low I consciously take a step back from things like fab etc because I know how potentially harming getting caught up with the hype can be. The good thing about fab though from the social side, the forums and the chatrooms is that there are lots of strangers and sometime its actually far easier to open up to dabbers and chat about problems to because they don't have any vested interest in your life outside fab, it's the same if you go to counselling or peer support groups, you don't have to worry about upsetting then or them falling out with you, or taking sides with people you care about etc BUT beware about those who can use this vulnerability to take advantage of you x I am. Always happy to talk to anyone about their issues and have been involved in various agencies over the years offering support not just for mental health but practice things such as legal matters, benefits accessing support etc Much love xx

I too have and still do volunteer for agencies where I not only counsel people but I also give practical advice in just about any subject out there Fab is a great place for social interaction but as stated it is also a bit like any other social media outlet where you can become addicted. I closed down all social media subscriptions when I was at my lowest point including Fab. To date I still haven’t opened any of them except Fab.

"I'm going to the doctor's today about my depression and anxiety after 20 years of suffering with no counseling or anti depressants I need to change that it's getting worse it seems hopefully I'll get some help today cause I hate feeling this way" Step one on the road is to visit your GP. You will probably be prescribed an anti depressant however, these don’t always work for some people. Talking therapies are usually the best way forward as you can sit with someone who will help you to recovery

When I needed it I found an excellent alternative place to get support that didn’t bankrupt me at the time. Google Crisis Erskine.
