If you're gonna get in a dither about who foots the bill, it's probably not wise to meet

If you are spending the night in the hotel, for instance a weekend away then you have absorbed the cost.

If you are planning on using a hotel for a meet then I put it down to whoever's suggested it first.

Like someone has said if it's going to be an issue its probably best avoided.

I prefer hotel meets as I refuse to have anyone in my house.

It really depends on the circumstances. Normally I'd always pay half. Sometimes I've paid for it all because I'm planning to be there anyway.

There's no harm in discussing it with a potential meet.

You act like adults and split the bill.

If someone is staying in the room overnight they pay.

Not something I've had the offer of. However 50/50 between both parties surely ?

If you offer to accomadate but they want a hotel, then let them book and pay for it. Why should you pay when you were perfectly happy to play without expense at your own place.

I’d say they pay. If I was offering hotel as a single or couple I’d, we’d pay.

Depends on circumstances. If hotel was pre-booked for an overnight or weekend away and a meet is arranged for during that stay then no need to share hotel costs. Non payer could bring a bottle of wine possibly.

If a meet is arranged and a hotel will be used for that meet purposes then splitting the costs should be expected.

Only exception to that rule would be someone insisting that they are happy to pay hotel costs. In that scenario maybe the person or persons not sharing hotel costs could buy a drink or bring a bottle of wine along.

To clarify, we were asking as have had a couple of guys we were interested in meeting who had said they could accomodate (we can't- teen in the house). In both cases pretty much on the day of the meet they have both said they can only accomodate occasionally but would be happy to use a hotel if we agreed. Neither of these meets have gone ahead btw as I don't like goal posts being moved, but the conversation had arisen between us from there hence Mr B posting this morning. Thanks for all your input though. Mrs B x

I offer to pay the first time, but take turns after that. I've never had a no show, but if I did I would enjoy room service and a spa. Fuck em.

In my opinion this falls into my second category, hotel meet arranged and agreed by both parties, you split costs.

Although the guys said they could accommodate and on the day said they could not accommodate that now gave you the power to say no to meeting. Had you said yes then you should pay half, you chose not to meet and that's that. I do agree with your decisions though, if they changed the arrangements then you were quite right to say no thanks, even had they booked and paid for a hotel, you would still be right saying no thanks and paying nothing.
