A picture popped up on my timeline on Fakebook regarding my old primary school and it got me thinking.

We’re you a teachers pet or did you get the belt and punnies (punishment exercise)?

My headmaster hated me but a few teachers liked me. My maw threatened to rip his head off for being a fud.

I did pretty well at school, bit of a teacher's pet though often got told off for gabbing too much.

Used to feel sorry for a few older teachers who were wee souls and well past their sell by date and had horrible wee fuckers taking the mick out of them. I'd have given them the belt myself!

If i was asked if anyone bullied or were unkind to me at school my answer would be the teachers. Not happy times for me.

I hated school. I was bullied and didn't really fit in.

I could have achieved so much grades wise but I just wasn't interested.

I enjoyed my school days. Went through the whole of secondary without receiving unsolicited texts from a member of parliament. Changed times

Hated school with a passion and have learned more whilst working than I did in the 4 years in high school.

The belt/cane wasn’t used during my time was never a disruptive kid but had a few punnies, mostly for being late but a few from teachers I didn’t see eye to eye with.

God I hated school.

We had a competition on who would get the most belts in the one day. It was never seen as a deterrent tbh.

I look back now and pity the teachers at the time.

But it never stopped my performance or impacted on my grades.

Hated school and the bullying that went in and that was the teachers.

First 2 years at High school all I was interested in was girls the next 2 years it became apparent I had a talent for music and drama as well as sport and was pushed in these areas however, got bullied by peers for being too good.

Can't say I enjoyed school either. I wasn't a trouble makes but did get punishments including the sandshoe and the ruler at primary school. Never had problems with the teachers at secondary school. They certainly weren't the bullies!

On the other hand, my wife went to convent school and she says the sisters were vicious and very nasty!

I got far too many punishment excersises.....

School rules are designed to keep everyone safe and to allow the process of effective teaching and learning to take place. It is my resposabilty and duty to obey all the rules for the benefit of myself and others.....

Mind I farted and the English teacher kung fu’d the emergency exit door clean off it hinges and marched me outside. The more he shouted don’t laugh do you think this is funny I just folded. Weeks detention followed.

Got belted plenty times, but got the grades for university easy enough.

I enjoyed school. Had a good class and our teachers enjoyed teaching us

I remember watching random movies in biology class, playing cricket in English class and having tea & biscuits during chemistry exams
