It's always been Roasted Cheese for me, but for my girlfriend it was Cheese on Toast.

Alton Brown made what he said was the perfect Roasted Cheese. bread and cheese dealt with separately and combined just before serving. He said what most folk made, should have been called "Grilled cheese on half-toasted bread".

Hubby and I have had this argument for over 20 odd years. He says roasted cheese I argue there no mention of toast, so invalid hahaha.

I say cheese on toast or melted cheese on toast. Mentioning all.

Same as cheese spread or spreading cheese. I say cheese spread he says spreading cheese lol

And roll and ham or ham on roll.

Hahhaha

When you put bread under the grill you don't say you're making grilled bread, you say you're making toast, so it's toasted cheese

My understanding is roasting refers to either someone slagging you affectionately or cooking food in an oven... but who cares as long as the bread is golden brown on one side and the cheese bubbling and melted on the other. A wee sprinkling of cracked black pepper and sea salt for me too please

All depends on the method of making it.

Made some toast in a toaster then slapped cheese on it? Cheese on toast.

Grilled bread with cheese on under the grill? Grilled cheese then.

I believe roasted cheese is required to be made on an open fire........
