Hi, I’m travelling to Glasgow early next week for work and was wondering if you had any recommendations on hotels. Can’t be too expensive as I have to put it on expenses but nice enough to stay in( I’m fussy).

Location advice etc would be appreciated

Are you looking to be near to CJS or just in the city centre, what's your budget as well?

I have no idea on location, I’m visiting a place near the airport but city centre or outskirts fine with me as I will be travelling back in the morning. Budget is around the £50 mark

I'd say probably just look for an airport hotel then, no point paying for city centre if you aren't needing to be there

"Are you looking to be near to CJS or just in the city centre, what's your budget as well? "

Believe it or not people can visit Glasgow and not go to CJS.

OP there are a huge variety of hotels to choose from on the many internet booking sites available.

Glasgow/London

If you're really on a budget, the Ibis at Springfield quay is usually cheapest. It's a bit of a walk to city centre though.

But the 500 airport bus from city centre is very convenient to get to airport..

There are popular web sites for findings hotels though. If you're wanting to stay by the airport, look for something in Paisley

I know the merchant city Inn is ok, around the 50 mark, but it's smack bang in the center

Easy Hotel. £35-£45. It’s got a bed, shower and toilet and more importantly it’s clean. The rooms tiny but sounds ideal for your circumstances

We’ve used the easy Hotels in other cities and they are ideal for somewhere to lay your head. Clean and cheerful too.

Great thanks for your help everyone. I did look at the ibis hotels as it’s within budget, parking and walkable to the city centre.

Close enough to keep me entertained in the evening

I stayed in the Ibis on Sauchiehall St - a decent enough place to stay... it's what you'd expect if you've stayed at an Ibis Could also see if or Motel One is in your price range - small rooms, but nice.

If you'll not have any free time you might as well just stay at am airport hotel. Being in the city means you'll be near great places to eat, drink etc though

Cheapest city centre hotel I normally find is the Charing Cross Premier Inn. It's less the £50 a night but get cheaper the further out you go.

Would avoid airport hotels they’ll be expensive couple of hotels around Breahead that might be cheap if it’s mid-week.

Z Hotel is good, just off George Square, discount parking, free cheese and wine in the lobby at 5pm!

Paisley

Try hotels.com. The airport hotels can be expensive and aren’t close to anything except the airport.

City centre is better for a cheaper hotel and at least you’ll have pubs and restaurants nearby.

Airport bus leaves every 15 minutes from George Square I think. Cheaper than a taxi but depends on where your going for work.

Avoid above only if you suffer from claustrophobia - I didn't enjoy my stay and the room was too warm!

I pretty much always stay in Premier Inn either Charing cross or the Quay, if they are booked out then the mclays guest house get an en suite or Charing cross hotel are both good value as well and right in the city
