What is the traditional thing people do on Hogmanay in your country/place?

Where I come from is to wear red underwear on the last day of the year: it is meant to bring good luck

Open front and back doors as other have said.

Also make sure all rubbish has to be out the house and placed in the bin.

When we were young we would listen for the ships on the Clyde give it laldy with their horns ( that's one for the memory bank as that'll never be heard again)

A tall dark handsome man bringing a lump of coal would bring you good luck all year long ...

I have a similar tradition. On the last day of the year I wear a kilt but with no underwear

Wee twist on the lump of coal in our estate....dog shite in the garden. Not limited to Hogmanay it would appear....Easter, Eid,Hannukah.....actually most weekends too now I come to think it of it. Mr having an extra large serving of steak pie and mushy peas so we can return the favour!
