It looks like the SNP has learned its lesson from 2017 and has got its voters out.

Plus the frightful prospect of an extreme right wing Johnson government with a majority has highlighted the difference in values between Scotland and Westminster.

Hoping for P45s for Swindle and the thuggish Jardine.

Totally agree. SNP are just like the Tories except we pay even higher taxes.

It’s like a one party nation now up here.

At least we know where we stand now and can break the brexit uncertainty.

That's because the SNP will only be answerable to scotland.the way it should be

A record number of seats show that folk are slowly realising no matter what you vote in scotland it's always going to be englands rule.so flood parliament with scottish MPs to have a choice at least heard.

What have you been smoking?

SNP are nothing like Tories, they have spent the past 9 years mitigating against Tory austerity cuts and horrific policies like the bedroom tax

Nearly All of the Nominees regardless of party were Scottish for Scotland seats.

Didn’t the SNP once claim they would end council tax? They didn’t instead they increased taxes and increased the price of alcohol.

Each to their own, democracy has spoken. No need for insults lady, I expressed my opinion and stand by it without insults.

Well spoken. The so called mandate that wee Jimmy Crankie doesn't exist except in her head.

Due to the way our voting system works the SNP get 81% of the seats for 45% of the vote. Labour polled 20% and got one seat.

Labour and Conservative votes also totalled 45% but with only 7 seats to show for it.

The Scottish Parliament voting system is a bit fairer as it introduces an element of proportional representation which is why the SNP are a minority government propped up by the Greens.

Democracy is a bugger when it doesn’t go your way eh? Comparing people to Nazis? Classy.

This one sided union is dead because of exactly your attitude towards your fellow Scots, and that bigot you just quoted.

We remember the rioting after the last referendum, and it wasn’t from Yes voters, it was nasty pieces of work who base their bigotry and vote on the football team they follow. Thick as planks.

"Worth pointing out that Boris’s ‘mandate’ is less at 43.1% of the vote based on the same ‘logic’."

According to the unbiased BBC Boris got 364 seats on 43.6% of the vote and sturgeon got 48 seats on 3.9%.

The voting system needs to change to reflect what the public actually vote for.

So, by that you’re saying that Scotland, as an ‘equal’ part of the union, should actually be fully governed and led by England as they have by far the biggest population of any of the UK countries?

Not sure how Scotland is fully governed by Westminster as we have a devolved government based in Edinburgh that is getting more powers given to it all the time.

It also has tax raising powers which it has used.

Additional powers are also being devolved after brexit.

Urban Dictionary - The Gaelic term for a Saxon. Survives in modern day Ireland and Scotland as a derogatory term for an English person.

And if you doubt it use it in an English pub. It's as derogatory as any racist slur.

... where the streets have no name!

Just a thought … but as there is a Scottish Parliamentary election in May 2021 - might it not be better to wait until after that and see how the Scottish Electorate vote then.

The number of votes cast (for the different parties in Scotland) in the General Election may not actually reflect whether there is a true appetite for independence - is it possible that not many of us could bring ourselves to vote for Corbyn OR Johnson?

The fiasco of Brexit isn't over yet … the possibility of creating other problems for Scotland by fracturing the Union further and possibly creating a Scotland/ England border as well as different currencies is really worrying.

"Additional powers are also being devolved after brexit.

The Scottish Government actually asked for a delay to the amount of powers being devolved as they couldn't deal with the quantity.

I think this link will prove that that agreement has already been reached.

So the Tory vice-chair, Andrew Bowie, reported only this morning as saying ‘no more powers coming to scotland’? It won’t happen. They’ll throw some monetary scraps our way and milk the headlines, as usual. That will be it.
