Manners or lack of them

Something I've noticed as a newbie on here is there seems to be a distinct lack of basic manners in the majority of messages from men on here. No polite introductions & sharing a bit of background about themselves or anything like that, usually just launching straight in to crude and overtly graphic details about what they'd do to me. There seem to be very few gentlemen but lots of disrespectful neanderthals.

Has social media & technology killed the art of conversation or has society in general given up on basic social etiquette? Or am I expecting too much to ask for manners and respect on a site like this?

I think it's a general problem, social media seems to have removed basic manners from some people. There are many men on here who seem to think that because it's a swingers site and we are on here, we should drop our knickers for anyone that messages us.

They wouldn't dare speak to someone like that face to face.

I think some men on here think we are at home sitting gagging for any meet because we are on a sex site so 1 click of a message and we should be ok let's go big fella.

I did say some but just now it seems to be more and more crudeness than genuine messages.

It's that sense of entitlement that really irks me. Like they assume that because we are on here we are all gagging for a shag so they can treat us accordingly.

Whether they would do the same face to face I'll never know because they sure as hell don't make me want to meet them.

Good manners cost nothing at the end of the day. I would say the lack off good manners being displayed is a social issue and not just online..

It's funny because I was speaking to a woman yesterday about this and she told me she dislikes holding a door open for someone if they don't say thanks in return and lets them know so.....

My response to that was i do it because i do , I don't do it for the thanks, it would be nice but if the person doesn't thank you then so be it.

Dosnt mean anyone has the right to be crude or rude but realistically you are not going to get a long message with an introduction and background info. You must also remember it works the other way too as in if a man sends a nice message very rarely will he get a reponse with a polite no thanks and i think that contributes to how it is in life today.

I take my time to be polite in my postings on here.

In maybe 1 in 5 i get a response. The rest are Message read and deleted with no reply.

Now to me that is rude but i put it down as a lucky escape as if they are that way online then I have no interest in meeting them.

My personal "favourite" are those who wink at you but when i reply with a message they read and delete with no reply.

As i say though, lucky escape for me.

Firstly... there is fault on BOTH sides... however, I wonder if men would really be that tolerant if they got the same amount of messages saying the same thing on here. A lot of men who message have blatantly ignored the profile in the first place so why should someone answer... PLUS the site specifically states that a non response should be taken as a polite no thanks... but then who reads the site guidlines and FAQ's eh

I do agree with this to a degree but you sometimes miss some very interesting conversation with some very nice people if you do that (thinking fab forum folk for instance)

I do it because I was brought up to do so, and when someone walks through with out saying thanks I simply say very loudly you’re welcome

Yesterday I was ready to chase a woman round the shop and knock fifty shades of shite out her barged past me nearly knocking me on my ass in Asda ! Myself and bf were already halfway past the two eedjits blocking the aisle with their trolleys when she bounded up arms up elbows out and full on rammed me like a fuxking rugby player eh hello pretty sure I had right of way considering you were on the right of the aisle and then ran down the left side through me like a fuxking steamtrain !!! And I mean ran ! She’s either foreign or ignorant cause she never even turned round when I screamed ducking ignorant bitch aye fuxking excuse me ya fuxking Cow ! Everyone else turned and looked she sped off out of sight ! I swear I was ready to kick off and then some

We work with a lot of very different people in different areas of the country and the level of manners from one place to another is shocking

Poor areas of The UK where there is dog shit on the street and you might form a opinion of those living there, in our experience are some of the politest and mannerly we have ever met, skip to the posh areas with vast amounts of money and it’s exactly the opposite, the people are mannerly to a point but that point is repeatedly shown

As a poster said further up this thread

Manners cost nothing, they can make someone’s day, and even if you’re angry or annoyed at something or someone, be polite, be honest and be humble

Calling someone a cunt in a mannerly fashion will hit home a lot more than a shouty argument

I agree. As a newbie I had an onslaught of messages. The crude, disrespectful ones & the ones who clearly haven't read my profile, or that are obviously cut & paste jobs, have immediately been ruled out. The few polite, well worded, messages are the ones I've taken time to respond to.

why dont you block all males & do your own search ?

I do agree with this to a degree but you sometimes miss some very interesting conversation with some very nice people if you do that (thinking fab forum folk for instance) You can still message them instead of them messaging you tho "

Yes true but I meant they’ve wanted to comment on something I’ve said which has then led to an interesting exchange I’d not have had otherwise. I guess you make your filters and your choice therein

There are gentlemen on here and usually when we take the time to type out a message to a woman, polite, correct grammar, nothing sexual and all the other stuff by way of an introduction, it still goes straight into the delete bin making it a total waste of time in the first place, so maybe some guys just think fuck that i'll just go off at the deep end and i'll either get deleted or i'll get fucked

I wouldn't do that, neither would i go up to a woman in a pub and say those things, but even when you take the time to compose something because we are single men women get loads of messages from guys so it's just a crap shoot whether it gets read or no

I think the women should send a message to a guy they might like that way at least the guy knows where he stands and if he comes back in his message about what he would do etc then at least you know he's a twat and no worth bothering about and move on to someone else

It's funny because I was speaking to a woman yesterday about this and she told me she dislikes holding a door open for someone if they don't say thanks in return and lets them know so.....

My response to that was i do it because i do , I don't do it for the thanks, it would be nice but if the person doesn't thank you then so be it.

I do it because I was brought up to do so, and when someone walks through with out saying thanks I simply say very loudly you’re welcome

Keep saying sites like this. This isn't anything special really. Have you not seen Twitter talk or any public forum where people can communicate. Even on Facebook sometimes with the photos and real names, if there is enough distance.

Now to this site I get around 1 in 10 replying, roughly. I have seen that a no reply is not to be considered rude here, but it seems rude anyways, I think people can understand why. And people who don't reply get tons of messages, I get that too.

Not on twitter so can't comment on that. On Facebook I keep my friends list to people I know well & family so not had any issues there. On here though I have had loads of messages that have immediately made me delete/block.

Polite messages from people who have clearly read an effort to read my profile & to compose a decent introductory message I always try to reply to, even if it's just to say thanks but no thanks.

I don't have the time or inclination to respond to every "hi" message though.
