there is a lot of controversy in sport at the moment about trans females competing in elite sports and should it be allowed as they are wiping the field when it comes to medal winning in female events.

So should they have their own events or be handicapped to even the odds

Their own because male biology is different from female biology

(bone density, lung capacity, muscle mass etc.), so if the want to race against other trans then fine but just cause they got their dicks turned inside out doesn't make them any more female than any other guy in the world

It's all about the xx & xy chromosomes

Fun fact. Princess Anne was the only competitor not sex tested at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

As a curiosity, in which category would you put women like Caster Semenya?

"As a curiosity, in which category would you put women like Caster Semenya? "

She has been repeatedly sex tested since 2009 and is female although has hyperandrogenism which creates more testosterone.

She has been singled out and persecuted for this as she us a runner, usually those athletes with that end up in the throwing events. The IAAF specifically introduced rules about testosterone levels and taking blockers only in her distances.

Sport is still one of the most unequal aspects of life.

How many male gay professional sportsmen are out there? Other than some swimmmers and divers?

Football and rugby is practically zero.

I know all of that, thanks. I am still interested in the OP's point of view on which category he would put her under

She was born a woman and identifies as a woman. Just because her body does something that is out of the ordinary she’s been targeted.

Imagine if tall basketball players were banned because they’re genetically taller ?

Sport of roller derby has a decent number of trans players too.

But she falls outwith his question as she is not transgender.

But.. but... it is an open conversation and I am allowed to ask the OP all the questions I like

Don't worry the OP knows about my deviation

testosterone testing was introduced due to the german ussr and chinese forcing it on their athletes to increase body mass ie muscle and bone density to increase their advantage in sports.

Princess Anne was not tested during the Olympic games as it was deemed an insult to the royal family so she was exempt.her horse was not .

if a person was born male then they are male and if born female they are female , XX or XY. the sex of the person is different than their gender as gender can be fluid where as sex can not.

there are a few females that have normally high levels of testosterone but they are female by sex and are very rare in sport .

as most transgender transitions happens after puberty then they have larger bones and increased muscle mass so have an advantage over natural females

Why don’t they have men’s games, women’s games and trans games? Give them there own category.

In the interests of fair sport it has been good that Semenya can't take part in the 800m anymore ( without lowering her testosterone levels). The event in Rio was a farce

Aviemore and regularly visit Glasgow

Technically you can be something other than XX or XY and no one would ever know. So are we suggesting that everyone should be DNA tested and categorised based on chromosomes? What about inequality of wealth of athletes? Should we be taking a look at the history of their life, dna test, socioeconomic background assessed and categorise people based on all of these factors as well?

Just some thoughts!

No we shouldn't, it would make things unnecessarily complicated

"As a curiosity, in which category would you put women like Caster Semenya? "

Since her sex test results were never published, she should be disqualified from competition until she can prove which sex she was born with.

Gay males do not have a physical advantage or disadvantage compared to straight males.

This comment is irrelevant to the original question.

Because LGBTQ believe that to separate transgender athletes is discriminatory.

Wrong she was born XY and it’s been published

Lots of males and females born with extra X or Y chromosomes usually it has a negative impact on the growth of the individual and disability, but as anyone who has ever worked with individuals with disabilities particularly intellectual disabilities often these individuals have strength and agility that’s almost superhuman, more often than not these individuals are recognised as disabled very early on and often take on a particular appearance however some can and do have physical appearances which aren’t easily recognised and they are often brought up “mainstream” and therefore could and would qualify in any sport

It's wrong and it's having a ridiculous effect in some sports. It's telling that you have people who have transitioned M2F doing very well in some sports but none the other way (F2M doing well).

If you are XX then you compete in XX sport

If you are XY then you compete in XY sport

If you can transition into a blind 3 legged donkey then you shouldn't be allowed in the blind three legged donkey race just because you had an operation to make you into that cause that genetically and biologically is NOT what you are

They aren't "out" there but they certainly exist. Gareth Thomas got nothing but support from team mates and coaching staff when he outed himself, it was a small section of fans who objected. Friend was on coaching staff when he played rugby league, said he was a highly professional guy.

Where were they published. The information unread on this athlete states her results were never published.

Having an extra x or extra y does not determine sex. The presence or absence of the y chromosome determines sex regardless of how many y chromosomes there are.

The disability you mention has nothing to do with sex.
