So I'm three week away from my daughter being born and I'm beyond elated,just want to meet her now and do my best to make her proud.

I'm nervous and excited,and a little scared but that's okay. I was just wondering how other felt when there first little one was coming into the world and what non cleche tips or advice you might have.

Congratulations. Im sure it all seems rather daunting just now but once your daughter is born things just fall into place naturally. Happy days ahead for you so relax and enjoy these special moments.x

Congratulations. Make time for your daughter and enjoy the time. I know you said no clichés but the time does fly by. Enjoy the good times and get past the bad and difficult ones.

Oh, and when baby wakes at night ONE of you should take it out of the room to tend to it, letting the other sleep, otherwise you BOTH get exhausted.

No-one ever tells you how difficult becoming a parent can be. Trust me, it is!

It's one of the most challenging, yet rewarding things you can do. Just when you think you have it sussed, they'll move the goalposts. It's a bumpy never-ending roller-coaster of a ride, and your life will never be the same again.

One piece of advice for early doors - pillows are a great way to muffle your fatigued screams.

Hope it goes smoothly and that both mum and baby are well.

You will go on Daddy mode straightaway don't worry.

Cliché... enjoy every moment because time does fly

Tip1... baby in same room as you for a week or so then her own room. Place one of mum's t-shirt as a base sheet in the cot

Tip2.... don't rush to her each time she cries.

Tip3... rest when she's sleeping. Don't start doing stuff

Tip4... get a kangaroo bag to put her in, ideal when doing dishes, ironing and hoovering

I best stop there lol ya'll find the rest by yourself

I'm sure you and your partner will find your feet.

Your partner will need support too. When my kids were newborns, used to take them out in the pram for a walk. They slept almost solidly, but your partner will appreciate a couple of hours to herself, whether that's to sleep, a long bath, or just whatever they need to do.

The most important advice I can give is never, NEVER! Lift your daughter above your head to play not long after feeding, it's a rookie mistake I made, apart from that, just make loads of time for her and follow your gut and prepare to be tired for a while.

Congratulations, the best part of your life is starting.

With the exception of my sister in law, we basically banned visitors! I'd arrange to meet folk for a walk or go to theirs, then I'd leave when I wanted. Good point though. Folk mean well but they can be over bearing.

Myself and my partner already talked about this as I had to have a conversation with some family members who were unintentionally taking over with the preparations for her arrival, so I had to politely let them know its our baby was revived well tho so not too bad. They ment well.

When you see your child for the first time will totally change your life.

Nothing else will ever be more important to you. Your child will be your main focus. Nothing else will get in the way.

Cant explain in words the feeling. You'll know when it happens.

The sleep thing won't be an issue I rarely sleep which is a bonus for the other half as she will get some well earned rest while I take night shift and I'm alright changed by her I've cried at every scan and heartbeat check, I talk to her daily, she even bumps my face when I ask for a kiss its insane how much love I have for someone I've not met yet.

Again I can't thank you all enough for taking the time out of your day to reply and give advice and tips and just nice things it's greatly appreciated.

Bringing up kids is only hard work if you make it hard .my two kids were a breeze .now all grown up .but they are still my babies .girl .(mp )in raf and son lighthouse engineer .so keep calm and the rest falls into place congrats and good luck

Best advice I can give is treasure every day, try not to stress and enjoy even the not so glamorous parts of parenthood ie nappy changing lol...my daughter is 30 now and it feels like 5 mins ago she was born...life really does fly by ...hope all goes great for you all X

My first was a girl. She will have you wrapped around her little fingers as soon as you clap eyes on her. I have 2 boys now aswell but daughters are different congratulations

Best piece of advice is get her into a bed routine. Best thing my ex did, as I had to listen to others saying how exhausted they were.

The other is do everything your way, every child is unique and one set of rules does not fit all.

It is an exciting journey just embrace it and savor it as all too soon it will be over.

Congratulations, becoming a parent is amazing. It's like a love you can't put into words, hopefully she's a good baby and doesn't give you too many sleepless nights, best advice is go with your gut, take advice but don't let others dictate how to be a parent, it's stressful enough without worrying about the expectations of others, babies need sleep,food, warmth, and regular cleaning, but not much else at this stage so don't go stressing out over anything unnecessary like socialising or keeping up appearances, they don't stay wee for long

Many congratulations, enjoy the little bundle, they are precious things and so beautiful. I still see mine like that and they are all older and some teenagers now, but still wonderful lol.

Thank you very much for all the congratulations and extra little tips, she's 6 weeks today and thriving, hasn't dropped weight and has gone from 9lb 3oz to 12lb 1oz on Thursday. She's sleeping great and the only time she's really crying is before a bottle which is great, but we are both loving every second, watching her little brain figure out new things and watching her wee personality start to form is such a privilege. I'm constantly just getting lost staring at her and we are constantly singing to her, anything and everything from King's of Leon, to frozen lol.

Tip 1. Wet wipes - you can’t have enough and you’ll wonder why you didn’t have them before as they clean anything and everything.

Tip 2. Lock yourselves away for a few days when she comes home from hospital. Yes everyone wants to see her but just take a few days alone, you won’t get the chance again.

Tip 3. You’ll figure it out - trust me

The only little bit of advice I will give is make the most of it and enjoy every minute. Because all too quickly and before you know it their leaving home to make their own way in the world .goes by so quickly,,,so enjoy
