One of my favourite mainstream movies of 2019, Joaquin Pheonix is excellent

The closest Ive ever been to walking out of the cinema. Not because its bad, its actually really good, but because its too real.

Really? I neatly fell asleep watching this. I was so slow trying to get to the points.

That's exactly how I felt. Was rather emotional after it.

I was completely drained and wouldnt recommend it to anyone who is involved in picking up the pieces of our "society".

Just in from seeing it.

Absolutely amazing film.

Unlike any other comic book based movie.

You don't need CGI when you have a performance the like of which Joaquim Phoenix turns in.

In short go see it.

They are already talking about another movie and exploring as Joaquin put it in an interview 'how deep the rabbit hole's goes'. Looking forward to seeing what they are going to come up with

Totally... can be a classic... some cult scenes in the first already...

It’s...... very deep, dark, disturbing and very indicative of today’s society. Also shows a trigger of how some people spiral into mental health problems. Very close to the bones havin mental health issues in my immediate family a lot of similarities. Superb acting he probably has first hand experience himself of mental issues losing his brother so young etc

Exhausted by the end of it totally different to any other incarnation of the joker

I seen the same thing... did think of some you people I know that have issues... with the wrong influences and direction... you can see similarities... but you are correct quite the performance from him...

Was a slow burner.. Kept wondering when the action would start then remembered it was his life leading up to the nasty joker you see in films.. But now looking forward to bad boys 3

Midway is ok, but the 70's version is better

I enjoyed both. Hard to beat the cast of the 70s one but I liked this cast and the visual of some of the scenes is great!

So good to see a comic book villian done darkly, but so simply. No cgi, no backstory with mutants or radioactive spider bites, just a story thats uncomfortable because we see so many of the elements in it around us everyday. I think the film sits as this decades Taxi driver.

Glasgow ish

I thought the film was a bit slow , had its moments but overall I genuinely didnt think it was anything special. I thought Joaquin was brilliant though, bit like Jack Nicholson in the shining, the film as a whole wasnt great but he was tremendous.

Agree with this, two films that have made me uncomfortable.
