Great film not what I was expecting. Didn’t think anyone could be better than heath ledger but Joaquin is IMO

I found it very dark and a not what i would call entertainment...You witness the disintegration of Arthur till he has lost all touch with his former self . It did make you wonder about the subject of mental health though and the cost to those who suffer.

Ledger was a better (but very different) Joker.

I've never been a fan of all the latest spate of marvel & dc character movies being churned out. I appreciate theyre amazing pieces of work it's just never been my thing. I actually watched Wonder Woman the other day & it was ok but just ok! For some reason tho I've always loved batman stories. Comics, cartoons, the Adam West stuff & all the movies since the 80's. Batmans shit hot. I love the Gotham origin story of the joker & I liked the jack Napier story so really not sure if I like the idea of the origin of joker in this latest offering. I'll go see it before judging but I'm just not sure I'll like the take on one of my favourite batman enemies. Fingers crossed it's brilliant!

Saw it yesterday. Good film and amazing performance by Joaquin Phoenix. But I couldn't watch it again.

I don't feel it glamorized violence or guns despite the graphic content. It did make me feel very, very sad though and I think it's an accurate depiction of some people's lives nowadays (apart from turning into a serial killer obviously). Society and its failures made him into a monster.

Saw it last week and I wasn't sure how I felt about it

The more I think about it I lean towards how it told the story of his spiral mentally, how his environment worked him etc and thus made him into the joker well

I don't think it was overly violent, I don't think it portrayed mental illness badly (felt it showed a worst case scenario yes but not bad press) and that jp played the role really well

So yes I'm leaning towards it was a good movie but I've seen alot better

Is it Oscar worthy--haven't a clue

Was ledger a better joker- for me yes

Would I watch it again, probably not

Ps avoid ad astra, such a yawnfest

Just a background character

I saw it last week; it wasn't what I expected. Great character development.

Interestingly (or not) on the weekend of its release there were zero mass shootings in the USA, where they have had an average of 1.24 mass shootings per day this year (up to 24 Sept).

Went to see it last night. Walked out at the end and said to the other half "hope you appreciated that as you just seen an Oscar winning performance"

As for the film itself, I think it slightly tied itself in knots with the references to the Batman films and if that's the way they wanted to go then they missed a trick with not having "did you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight". Still a truly riveting film to watch especially with the way the world is just now.

Saw it today.

Brilliantly made and acted film. Interesting but successful pacing for such a film. Subject matter clearly dark and potentially disturbing but totally engaging. Potential oscars I’d think.

Loved his suit.

Fantastic film and very raw to the point of mental health and how your actions can effect others. Frank Sinatra stole the show (soundtrack) his voice alone at the gripping parts made the hair on your kneck stand up. Awesome movie.
