Hey guys - short of going down on my bank manager (shes an ugly cantankerous cow), I'm in a bit of a fix atm. So I'm thinking of ways to earn a few extra bob.

I've babysat many times before for different ages.

I love playing with kids, in a healthy, responsible way.

I can provide a disclosure check if you really want me to.

I can travel to most of Scotland as I'm fairly central.

Rates negotiable + travel.

I can get character references too (No, not talking about verifications!)

Does this count as advertising? I'm kinda thinking it would be ok cos I'm offering an understanding service - I know the drill and will be discrete.

If I've broken any rules, then I'm sorry, delete this and tell me where it should/could go please.

Hope to hear from folks.

Hun,

if you were closer you'd be a dream for me when hubby is away! using my normal sitter for "nights away" doesn't work.

Was saying to hubby about trying to find a sitter for the xmas social and that it would nae be easy. move this way lol!

xx

Pamela was looking at setting up business in the babysitting sector so to speak, shes qualified and all that gash, and had a fair few girls, all qualified with in date disclosures and stuff.

then she got pregnant..how dare she..and the ideas went on hold.

she did get a heck of a lot of feedback from people, mostly up bearsden, milngavie and jordanhill areas. il see if shes kept some of the email addresses and pass them on?

Ohh I need a reliable babysitter for my 2 hooligans oopps I mean little darlings

In all honesty I have found most people do not like sitting with kids overnight so now I only play during the day and during school termtime.

I even set up a kind of babysitting round robin - you know where I watch your kids you watch mine but everything I wanted to go out I was told sorry cant watch your kids!! so I decided to stop babysitting and hey presto they are offering again cos they need me to be the reliable one!!

The weekend just past hubby and I had decided to go to a club but when I asked my mates if they could stay at my house overnight (its easier at mine cos my kids are the oldest and the building blocks that 2 year olds play with aint of any interest to my 11 year old) I was told ohh sorry I am out and need you to babysit (ohh and the kids I was supposed to sit on are devil spawn never sleep and scream all day type kids)and sorry I am at a wedding and I know you asked me weeks ago but my mate who I have never seen in years and doesnt think enough of me to even phone wants me to buy a wedding present!!

So needless to say we didnt get to the club and just found out one friend could have babysat . . . . sorry just feeling a bit miffed now!!

So in answer to the op get yourself up to mine pronto lol I need a break and some fun!!!

Shona

Well - tbh I have no idea what the going rate is.

For say 8pm in the evening till 12 lunchtime the next day (time to get sober and get home - mb I just part too hard?), if it was on minumum wage, that would be bets part of £100. Seems way over the top to me.

I'd work something out so that after travel expenses I'd be getting about £30 - £50 I think. Depends how far I had to travel. Within fife the buses would be less than a tenner return.

I have a disclosure check set up for next Wednesday. Will that be enough or should I go ahead and get character references? For that matter - what is involved with getting registered as a childminder? Do I need qualifications?

to get registered as a childminder is quite a long process.......will take anything from 4 to 6 months and you get inspected by the care comission etc, yourself and the premises etc.

they may ask you to do a nvq in child care you also need to do first aid course and resporatry aid courses as well and you will need to under go an inspection both you and your girlfriend you will also have to make your flat or house secure with child locks and baby gates its a night mare being a childminder if you like the work try and go for being a care assistant or do what you are doing you dont need to do a lot to be a baby sister i would recomend a disclouser check and first aid course and set up a list with the parents or contract mainly for your benfit it will help you if the child has any allergys and contact numbers then you will have a folder with all the relvent detail in it.

i know its long winded i did my nneb and gave it up for care of the elderly it was to much hassel being a child minder not with the kids its the beaurcrats that take the fun out off it

For childminging need policies and procedures, aims and objectives, house upgrades, diclosures, references.........then u need to do things like child protection, first aid courses etc..........its a very long process and it entails a massive amount of paperwork and inspections.

Geez....I remember the day when my baby sitter turned up early (bout 6 pm), straight from the all-day after-party of a Rocky Horror concert the night before.

If anyone is looking for a (safe and sober, nothing like the above) baby sitter with just a disclosure check and some discretion, by all means get in touch. I have done first aid courses and am pretty good with kids.
