There's a lawsuit against them and that's why they're having to close it down, to fight the case against them

I like snap, then you have the added benefit of getting them to send a live snap which s out the fakes!

Plus your pics on Snap disappear and you know when they’ve been screenshotted

Wire gets my vote. Exactly the same as Kik. No mobile number required etc.

Telegram gets my vote. It has two-step verification, has its own Pin/fingerprint access, and chats can be set to self destruct (as can your account itself). Privacy settings are configurable (showing online, read receipts, etc), and you can add contacts using phone number or a username like Kik.
