Just been in scotland chat room, found people very ignorant, said hi 3 times in the room and just got ignored, also asked everyone how they where tonight got the usual reply. NONE , It does take ages just to reply with a hi also.

its been rumoured and talked about many times that the scottish chat room is a clique.the only way to find out is to find out yourself and you have unfortunately.

i have to say everyone one usually gets a warm welcome, could just be the room moving that fast no one has seem as if u havent said hi to 1 perticular person...its not about people being in a clique the regulars theat use the room know each other and always welcome folk, some times u are just iunlucky if no one has seen u.. x oooh and hiya x

I dont agree - the room normally has around 25+ people in it and at least half of those dont chat???? The ones chattin know each other from socials etc so it looks like every one knows each other but we always welcome new people but I'm not really sure what can be done about it.

We have had some grt laughs in the chat room and other times its just a constant list of hi's and bye's which can be a bit boring.

Just ma 2 bobs worth - maybe we are in the clique and dont realise it, omg how do we get out of it pmsl xxx

Have fun folks xx

"its been rumoured and talked about many times that the scottish chat room is a clique.the only way to find out is to find out yourself and you have unfortunately."

There are groups of people in any of the chat rooms that know each other well from meeting at Socials, etc and are maybe engaged in conversations with each other and therefore don't notice people saying hi, especially when the room is busy and the chat is moving quickly.

It's a bit of a sweeping statement and also untrue to say the whole Scottish Room is a clique though!

If I see people saying hi I will always say hi back, like lots of other people do too!

So I don’t agree with the OP’s generalisation that everyone in the Scotland chat room is ‘very ignorant’

It's a bit hit or miss in the chat. Sometimes I can go in and folks say 'hi'; sometimes not. I'm sometimes amused when I get more "bye"'s than I do "hi"'s!

Then sometimes I go in and it's just men passing through saying "Hey, anyone wanna meet?" It's different every time.

TBH, the chat on the site isn't all too great. Just look at how easy it is to screw up whispers! Still, it's better than nothing, and can be good fun when it's on-form.

There's certainly a bit of a clique in there, and it's difficult to step into that if you're not a member! I'm not, despite being around for a looong time.

Apologies to the chatroom regulars here, but I've visited the Scotland room several times, at different times of the day, and although in the mornings say, it's relatively quiet, I've still never got anywhere.

However, most of the time it's manic and I'm afraid I just don't understand how you can have a sensible conversation. Also, imho, the software is not particularly good, in particular what you have to do to whisper, which has huge potential for cocking up!!

So I'm sorry, but I've given up on the Scotland room!!

id say stick with the chat can get a right giggle in there mostly and to be honest if it wasnt for the chatroom we wouldnt have known all the good folk that we have met outside!!

If one enters a bar or another busy, noisey place and shouts "Hello all" as they arrive what happens?

I would say pretty much the same as what happens in the chat room to be honest.

Some will say Hi back, others will ask how your doing, while the majority are engaged in their own conversations that they fail to notice you enter the room.

I have said hello to good friends before, only for them to miss it and likewise if im not paying 100% concentraction on the room (so many pics to perv, so little time, lol) I often miss folk saying Hi or chatting.

Please dont take it to heart, its just the nature of the beast. Looking at when you wrote the original post it looks like you were in when it can get busy. Keep at it, and just fire in when you see an oppurtunity to put your thoughts forward.

Take care, Steve

I used to think it was quite clique aswell when i first joined up but the longer Ive been here Ive started putting things down to the actual workings of the chatroom. As others have said, it moves too fast, its very easy to screw up whispers and all in all its basically a bit of a rabble. Because of that I dont chat in the room as much as Id like to, nothing against the people in the room I just find using the room rather hard work to be honest. Its a nightmare keeping track of whos talking to, whether someone is talking to you or not so I personally dont spend any great deal of time in it at any 1 time, plus the fact Ive got other things to be getting on with aswell.

it can be like the "Waltons" some times with the hi and byes and alot of folk get to ignore those as it gets to a stage when alll you are saying is hi or bye .

a good thing to do when entering a chat room is say some thing totally weird then folks will notice you ( they might think your an idiot but they will notice you then say hello

SteveanJ hit it on the head with the bar comparison.

What I do find and has been confirmed in this thread, a lot of people are multi tasking, they have the chat page open but are on another site doing something else at the same time and tend to miss a lot of the chat.

Personally I say Hi all rather than pick on individuals that way I am addressing the entire room.

I don't find a clique mentality at all its just as pointed out earlier people tend to get caught up in conversation.

I find myself in 3 or 4 conversations at the same time and have to take time out to clear my head sometimes it gets that manic in there.

popped in to wish siouxx the best and noticed this..

this site is fantastic, the forums are fantastic, the chat rooms are fantastic, the meets you may get, may also, be fantastic...it's upto YOU !!

BUT THIS SITE REFLECTS LIFE.....

and you will get .. what you put into it..

put a lot in.... you will laughs, chuckles, make great mates and have great sex....

you put in nothing..... you will likely get feck all...

you get people who add value in the room by chatting, trying to raise a laugh, you get the folks who say hi and nothing else, you get the folks who shout ' any fems/couples looking for a meet' or msn ... and that same line a 100 fecking times..

... and then you get the moaners.. who do feck all but moan and moan and moan... they also, no bad people, they just look at life thro a half empty glass..

repeat that in the forums......same old, same old...

people should genuinely take a look at themselves first and foremost... and then and only then...... judge others.

go to a busy bar.... stand at the door with your mates and start a conversation.... and every time the door opens, stop and say hi to everyone who comes in.. some will stop and join you, others will move on to start their own conversations with their mates.

others will look and say that group of pals are a clique... but funnily enuf, if they have pals... they aren't a clique just pals .... and thats the hyprocisy of it all...

when I went into chat... I tried to say hi to all..... and trust me... it came back to bite me many times with.... ' ffs, take a look at him, think he owns the fecking place '

if you dont like chat..... easy... dont go in..

if you dont like the forums... easy.. dont go in...

if you dont like the site.... easy... !!

It's interesting how some people always seem to think they know best! And anyone who has another viewpoint is so wrong!!

Is the OP a liar?? Of course not, he/she is simply commenting on and describing their experience in the Scottish chat room.

And what is becoming very clear is that just as there are people who think the Scottish room is wonderful, there is a significant number who find it totally manic and having a sensible conversation is well nigh impossible! Chatting should be a casual and relaxed process, and even some of the devotees admit that that just isn't the case!

Am not sure anyone has suggested that _cotcouple69 weree wrong. They have just expressed an opinion on their experience in the chat room. Likewise, the replies have been based on people's own perception and experience. I have not seen any condemnation of _cotcouple69, and have not seen any suggestion that they are being considered as liars.

My own experience in chat room has always been positive. People were great when I first joined the site and that allowed me to just jump in and join conversations.

This is a great way to get to kow people. I have only ever been myself in chat and altho I spout a lotta pish I have never set out to shock, offend or lie.

I have always tried to treat everyone with respect, and can say that I have never been insulted or disrespected in the room (well not while I have been there anyway...lol)

I find that people coming into the room and working their way down thye list of couples and females saying hi and then asking if they want to meet is offensive, disrespectful and lacking in manners.

I always try to say hello to everyone (although I am sure there are those that I miss) and I have noticed that there are a lot of people that do the same.

Regular chat room users are not a clique, they are just people that have known each other for a long time. It really is up to new chatroom users to jump in and join the conversation. It worked for me, and I am sure it can work for them too.

O o O oo

We don't go into the Scottish room much but I have always said that MOST of the time it is a very friendly room.

I say most of the time because on occasions I have said hello and not got one back, but, I just butted into peoples conversations and harras people until they answer me and people chat then....wether they want to or not !!

To the OP all chat rooms can be as you have said, even the scottish one at times, and how we learnt early on when many moons ago we ventured into chatrooms, that you can't be a wallflower.

If someone doesn't speak as we enter a room, we just join in when we can and make sure we say hello to most people as they come in, as that normally starts conversations up.

Don't let it put you off, there are some great chatters on this site and not just in the scottish room

I will disagree there View has not got it spot on on this occassion because as the OP states "said hi 3 times and was ignored ,then went on to say how is everyone and again ignored" what more input does he,she, they have to put in just to get a hi back again?

Ignored is ignored no matter what way you look at it and I cant believe all 40 or even 50 ppl in the chatroom would miss the same folk every time they said hi.

very very valid _acread... you are correct, however of the 40/50 people in chat ... I would offer probably only 10-15 actually chatting, the others watching, whispering, perving profiles, on msn, away to loo, cooking tea etc etc..

a guess...

Agee with you there View we look into chat occasionally and although dont do much chatting, just have a wee nosey at whats being chatted about but usually doing other things too and sometimes forget we are even logged in to chat or fab site for that matter so anyone saying hi on those occasssions would think they are being ignored.

On saying that there are def some ppl who have a hi directed at them and do purposely ignore it which I myself put down to bad manners.

well my opinion differs from the rest......i do think theres cliques in chat......its natural some folks form bonds and some dont, certain groups become friends and get on better than others. It is really hard to become involved in chat when you are new, it can be a tad overwhelming and diffcult. At times there are folks that probably dont get spoken to cos no-one knows them etc.....in saying all this i dont think folks are being rude its just part of the chat culture and happens on all chatrooms on various sites.

I think if folks are both new to swinging and the idea of delving into a "chatroom" must surely be dizzy making.

People create fab swinging connections without ever venturing into a chatroom, and indeed have exciting swinging connections without becoming best friends, we all have fab friends who have nothing to do with the scene, its pleasantly surprising to most wandering in to chat i bet that the atmosphere is and can be so friendly.

Yes there are cliques, yes there is politics, bitching, familiarity sometimes breeding contempt for others who at the end of the day if you take a wee step back are simply there for same reasons as you more than likely.

Makin it happen is and always will be my priority, creating trusting friendships, getting to know my fellow swingers are nice added bonuses as i go on this rollercoaster ride of sexy adventure.

Keep it fun

we found the chat the same the first time we were in, then flicked on the cam and found a fair few people wanted to be best buds, then the following night cam was off and no-one wanted to know.

i think the main thing with the chat is to pop in often, make yourself known. we had the cam on a few times, only to show that there are two of us and to show that we are genuine, without having to rush into a meet (which is something most guys seem to moan about on the forums )

now the cam is harldy ever on, laptops is at techstar as its fooked, the house net is down too.

please note, those who do not have TalkTalk...do not get TalkTalk.

we are in the chat every so often, gordie goes in when hes bored at work and pamela when she wants a gossip. I think our sense of humour has made us friends via that chatroom and thats one reason why we would recommend it.

pop in a few more times and youl start to see a change. hope to chat to you there soon xxx

Great friends made recently on the scene came about after originally messaging mutual interest on another site approximately 4 years ago, only this year, things fell into place to the point we met and had a fab meet, no rush, no pushing to meet just a mutual respect for each others ability to meet and with no chatroom involved in the equasion, it has and serves a purpose, its not THE place to rely on for all things swinging, just an opinion,

The Chat Rooms along with the rest of the site is what you make of it!

Go on with a negative attitude and you will get negative results, go on with a positive attitude and you will get lots of fun fun fun just what the site is meant to be for!!!

Simples really!

the chatrooms are as iv said good places to get yourself known without having to rush into a meet, but they can so easily be ruined if someone decides to do so

Its a bit of a double edged sword chat, you go in there loving the idea of a chat n laugh, then the domino effect, you upset one and before you know it multi tudes of folk do the sanctimonious "just go away" just shuup", which is splendid advice, while the non-chatters who sit there for hours like barnicles on a rock saying nowt somehow have a rare old time, eh? Not chatting in a chatroom? How does that work? lol

Something which needs to be underlined regarding the chatroom, contrary to what is regularly trotted out to newbies who come onto forums complaining about being unable to get a meet, it is simply not necessary to spend hours sitting in a chatroom trying to have a semi decent conversation with somebody, to get a meet.

Imho, and in my experience, there are other far better ways of going about meeting somebody!

the advice given to newbies is there for them to ignore at their will.

yu only have to consider ratio of scottish members to numbers in chat and forum to clearly understand that only a small percentage partake in chat/forum/social/meet today icon/forum meet forum page.

many just message.......

NO GOLDEN RULE as far I can see.... if one of many, many options.

and if newbies ask for advice in the forum, it's nice to be nice and offer suggestions.

what they do with it, remains with them..

LOL Jo, indeed we have had great laughs over the last couple of years.

as for other ways.. well maybe folks will share their secrets to sucess with the newbies when they post asking for it.

nice to give something back to the site, that gives us all a lot of fun.
