When we find ourselves in bdsm scenes that prevent our sub from using her safe word, what non verbal signals do you use to ensure her safety?

glasgow west

when the sub has a gag in and cant speak then how about using the good old vulcan hand signal as this is different enough that it cant be misread as any thing else where as any other hand signal could be .

this might not work if you are doing bdsm at a trekkies convention

If someone's safety is in doubt, it's bordering on abuse

Thanks for your comment.

First & fore most it's the doms responsibility to ensure the well being of his sub (Always) this is consensual so would never fall into the abuse catergory someone's safety when with me is never in doubt.

It's only abuse if the people involved arnt able to consent....

In this case the dom and sub must work together to find a good way for a safe word or signal to be used...

A vigorous shake of the head, a hand signal or the like that and the dom checking in more regularly than if the sub wasnt gaged.

No abuse in this, the abuse starts when the sub withdrawas consent and the dom ignores it or no consent was given in the first place.

I've actually found most BDSM relationships to have more trust than regular relationships for that reason

So why ask the question?

Surely its spoke about before any sub/ dom play takes place?

If anyone needs to be asking what they should do to ensure someone's safety when they are having sex with them then I think they need to be looking somewhere else to find answers

Their Own World

We quite like the item held in hand that can be dropped. Even if cuffed or tied, something like a cat ball with bell in is still able to be released and gives both a visual and an audible cue.

Some methods I've seen/used are :

Give them something to hold that they can drop as a safe signal. Make sure it's noisy enough that you'll hear it dropping!

Slapping the bed/restraint with the palm of a hand (can usually be done even if tied)

Vigorous shaking of the head works too.

In fact, just about anything that is sufficiently unusual that there's no risk of it being mistaken for a normal reaction. If you're wise, you'll have more than one and it goes without saying that you shouldn't be playing this way without a great deal of trust, prior negotiation and care.

Have fun

Thanks the more options discussed prior to play and available for a variety of scenarios are what we are interested in.

Have fun "
